Soon to be adapted into a major motion picture!

The second book in the #1 New York Times- and USA Today-Bestselling Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer! Our cyborg heroine teams up with two new characters, Scarlet and Wolf, to defend Earth against a wicked space queen.

"An interesting mash up of fairy tales and science fiction . . . a cross between Cinderella, Terminator, and Star Wars." —Entertainment Weekly on the Lunar Chronicles

She splayed her fingers on the back of the ship, annoyed at how her nerves were humming, like they couldn’t decide if she should be afraid of him or flattered.

Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother, or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her.

Halfway around the world, Cinder is back and trying to break out of prison—even though she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive if she does.

As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana.

The adventure continues in this fresh fairytale retelling that combines elements of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Narrator Rebecca Soler maintains the rising tension levels through pacing and tone as the story lines weave together and the danger grows…Soler navigates the alternating story lines well, easily transitioning from a slightly robotic tone for Cinder and her android Iko, to just a hint of a French accent in Scarlet and Wolf's tale, which reminds listeners that the majority of the story takes place in France.” —AudioFile Magazine

“Rebecca Soler gives another solid performance of the futuristic fairy tale series. Her youthful voice is well cast to narrate the concurrent stories of the two teenagers, seamlessly navigating between the story lines…Fans of Cinder will be completely satisfied as action and romance abound and the stakes are even higher in this installment. Listeners will be clamoring for the next two titles in the quartet.” —School Library Journal

“Soler's narrations, both confident and well paced, flow effortlessly. She masters major characters' voices…Soler is also very effective at quick transitions between accents in dialogue-heavy scenes. The combination of Soler's superb performance and Meyer's captivating storytelling creates a pair of tour-de-force audiobooks.” —Horn Book Magazine

Recall: Cinder, the Lunar cyborg mechanic, was invited to the Royal Ball by the young and handsome Prince Kai. When Cinder finally arrives, (late, rain soaked, and dirty), she has an urgent message for Prince Kai: the evil Lunar Queen Levana wants to force him into a marriage alliance and then kill him. Queen Levana spotted Cinder at the ball, and demanded that she be arrested as a Lunar fugitive and returned to Luna.

At the beginning of this story, we are following two different characters; Scarlet and Cinder. Scarlet is in France and trying to track down her grandmother, who she believes has been kidnapped and gets some unexpected help from a street fighter named Wolf. On the other side of the world, Cinder is in the midst of breaking out of prison and pairs up with another fugitive, Captain Thorne, on the way. Their paths will cross when Cinder searches for the truth about where she came from and as Scarlet searches for her grandmother, who might hold the answers. The story has a "Little Red Riding Hood" meets "Cinderella" twist to it,while the wicked which releases chaos all over the world.

The story overall was cute, but not as good as book 1. The character Scarlet didn't particularly appeal to me, I would have preferred to hear more about what Cinder and Captain Thorne were doing, rather than listen to anything that Scarlet had to say. I'm still planning on reading the next book, even if it is for no other reason than I love Iko.

Cinder trumps Scarlet

It took a while for me to get into the story line with the new characters but in the end it hooked me back in!! Stick to it even if you might get confused bc I promise it will all pay off. Can't wait to start the next one!

Before I even finished hearing "Cinder," I ordered "Scarlet." I couldn't resist. Thankfully, I trusted my intuition because it paid off. I was hooked! I loved Cinder and I wanted to know what would happen next--plus they added side stories!!! I loved every second of this audible. Get to a relaxing moment to a full on cardio workout, it kept me going. Before this one even finished, I brought "Cress." I think I'll probably order the last one before it's even up!

Amazing. The story just keeps getting better. I was SO happy to know Cinder wasn’t done narrating. Her story and Scarlet’s are so intertwined and they both get to share their perspectives in this second installment. I didn’t feel like I missed anything adding a new narrator.

Rebecca Soler knocks it out of the park, again. Every character had their own voice and Scarlet’s French accent is literally flawless.

No sophomore slump here.
