Shocking Paranormal Twist!

When I started this book, I thought it was going to be a typical suspenseful romance where the girl feels threatened, the hot cop comes to save her, the bad guy is caught, and the girl and hot cop live happily ever after. Boy, was I wrong. This is the first paranormal romance I have read as an adult. To be honest, had I known it was paranormal before going in I most likely would not have read it. I know that is a bad thing to say in a review but I cant help it, I am just not a paranormal person. But, this book may have changed my mind on that.... I see many paranormal romances in my future....

I purchased the audio and was not disappointed! It was hard to believe that there was only 1 narrator doing this book!!! Shelly did a fantastic job!

Story Has Murder, Demons, Ghosts, Musicians, Cults, Romance, Small Town

A gruesome double murder in the past...to the present.
Cassie is returning to her hometown after the murder of her grandmother and her assault by her fiancée in NYC.
Her best friend James, the sheriff, and his wife are her support. His deputy Logan, becomes interested against his best intentions in Cassie.
Hauntings, dreams of attacks, and talk of demons...keep this story on edge waiting for what will happen to Cassie....what happened the night her parents were murdered..what does that mean to her.
The storyline was great..some of the dialogue had me rolling my eyes..some a bit melodramatic when some great action and revealing was happening. So the storyline itself was great.
I didn’t care for the narrator’s depiction of the dialogue..it also made me roll my eyes..it was just too contrived. I think the narrator is capable of much better but it was often hard to listen to...I would have enjoyed the story better by reading it I believe.
I am certain,y interested in the authors other works.

Great Read

Saving Cassie (Fairfield Corners #1) was a good ready by L.A. Remenicky. Cassie Holt has spent the last ten years in the big city. But she returns to her hometown to run the bookstore her grandma left her. Her best friend Sheriff James Marsten sees the same girl who left the years ago. He never thought that she had secrets that could get her killed. One of the secrets threatens her life and James turns to his new deputy, Logan Miller, to keep her safe. Sparks begin to fly between the two as they get closer. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by L.A. Remenicky.

Not for me

I found this book difficult to finish. A better narrator might have helped. Unfortunately, this book did not grab and keep my attention. I like to feel part of the characters’ lives and this did not happen. I love paranormal romance but this book was not for me.

okay Romance novel, not my cup of tea

okay Romance novel, not my cup of tea

romantic fiction novels are usually not my thing. But a good plot and good characters can save that. The narration left a lot to be. But i think without a good material to read no reader could have saved it. Not sure i would recommend this to people that were not a fan of the genre but if you are it might be your cup of tea.

Paranormal

I struggled to finish this one. I didn't realize it was a paranormal and that is just not my cup of tea.

I'm not sure how I feel...

I knew this was paranormal mystery going in so when the ghost appeared, I took no issue with that. I did not, however, develop any affection for the main character, Cassie. She was just 'meh'. I found her rather tedious and melodramatic over things she shouldn't be and blase over things that should have taken her over the edge. She was hard to like and since she was the main character...

I liked the narrator but not enough to continue with this series. I'm one and done.

Finding Home!

Saving Cassie by L.A. Remenicky has many layers to it. I was intrigued by the book blurb, and jumped at the opportunity to listen to a review copy. I loved the suspense the author wrote into this book and how the paranormal elements were woven in. I've always loved romance books that feature a second chance, and this one does not disappoint. The imagery in this book is fantastic. I could envision the bookstore with ease, and I loved Cassie's relationship with her Grandmother. I was truly impressed by the narration by Shelly vanderGaag! She performed many characters using distinguishable voices for each. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I received a review copy of this book and am voluntarily writing this review.
