The first book in the international bestselling Maxton Hall series—now a Prime Video streaming series—in English for the first time.
They come from different worlds, and yet they are meant for each other.
Money, glamour, luxury, power—Ruby Bell couldn’t be less interested in these things if she tried. After being awarded a scholarship to one of England’s most prestigious and expensive private schools, Maxton Hall, all she wants is to keep her head down, work hard, and get accepted to Oxford. She keeps her distance from everyone, especially the arrogant, rich, and extremely handsome James Beaufort, ringleader of the school’s party boys.
When Ruby discovers a scandalous secret about the Beauforts, she is suddenly on James’s radar. It only gets worse when James is forced to work with her to plan the school's annual gala. Yet the more time they spend together, the more they realize they share much more than they thought.
Falling for James Beaufort was never part of her plan, yet Ruby can’t help but let her feelings sweep her away. But James must make a decision for himself: will he choose what’s expected of him, or what he feels for her?

love the story

Honestly it could be the translation, it could be the writing. There’s no EMOTION within the writing of this story. The writing is matter of fact. The characters are one dimensional. Interesting.
The sex scene is noticeably long (not spicy) and very mechanical rather than emotional.
Will continue but mostly as prep for the remaining seasons of the show.
Beautiful and heartbreaking

there is so much more to Ruby and James. They are perfect for each other. Their chemistry is off the charts. James Dad is still a Asshole.
waited a long time for this book.

The Narrators absolutely blew me away. I was obsessed with every single second of the audio.
If you've ever wanted a story that mixes elite private school politics with razor-sharp ambition, crackling slow-burn tension, and two characters who cannot leave each other alone--even when they absolutely should--Save Me is that book.
Ruby Bell has one goal: Oxford. Not parties. Not rich boys. Definitely not James Beaufort, the golden son of Maxton Hall and walking embodiment of privilege. But when Ruby accidentally witnesses a secret that could burn everything down, she’s forced into James’s orbit... and it’s not long before threats and bribes give way to something far messier: chemistry.
Tropes & Vibes:
• Enemies to lovers (with teeth)
• Rich boy x (in need of) scholarship girl
• Boarding school secrets
• Forced proximity
• He tries to bribe her. Twice.
• She throws the money in his face.
• Intensity that simmers hard
• Touch her and she will end you energy
• Morally gray MMC, fiercely grounded FMC
• One HELL of a cliffhanger
Ruby is a heroine I instantly loved: organized, stubborn, quietly intense, and unapologetically driven. Her world is color-coded and bullet journaled, but it’s also filled with love. Her family, especially her younger sister Ember (whose body-positive fashion blog is chef’s kiss), adds a real warmth to Ruby’s edges. The contrast between her humble home and the gold-gilded halls of Maxton gives this story emotional grounding.
James? Oh, he’s infuriating. Entitled. Hot. Strategic. Impossible to ignore. Every scene between them feels like a match held near gasoline. He thinks he can buy silence. She shows him exactly who he’s dealing with. Watching their dynamic evolve--from adversarial to electric--is one of the best slow burns I’ve read in a long time.
The romance is delicious, but it’s never the whole story. Kasten dives into class divides, family pressure, self-worth, and ambition with a surprisingly deft hand.
BUT when that ending hit.... I had to sit back in silence, blinking at the last page. It’s not a bow-wrapped conclusion... it’s a full stop that dares you to reach for the next book immediately (cries!!)
The fire and friction between Ruby and James is addictive. The sharp pacing without losing emotional weight. The way Ruby never loses herself. This book doesn’t reinvent the girl-meets-boy school romance-it just does it better.
If you're into:
• Prep school drama
• Complex, believable heroines
• Banter that cuts
• TENSIONNNNNN
• Morally gray boys learning to be better
• Rich, emotional stakes behind every glare and every kiss...
Then Save Me is your next obsession. Just be ready to yell when it ends. Book 2 cannot come fast enough, and I will 100% be listening to it on audio again!!
I LOVE

I’ve been looking for this exact type of pining and it is written so well. Narration is perfect too. Sighs
