Publisher's Summary

Serve your purpose. It’s the code by which Elijah McMillan lives and breathes. There is no alternative. He was born to service other men, and he does so with pride.

At least until his irresistible brainiac of a counselor Silas Rutledge comes along and tells him he can’t.

That it’s wrong.

That he’s “worth more.”

As if.

Only the more Silas talks, the more Elijah starts to think that it might be true - that he’s someone of value instead of a toy made for better men.

That maybe he can be saved.

Elijah McMillan doesn’t want to be fixed, but his case is one Silas Rutledge refuses to give up. With his sharp mind, quick wit, and stunning good looks, he has the potential to do anything.

If only he’d let Silas help.

For every step forward, Elijah bounds three paces back, and one of these days when he jumps, Silas is sure he’ll come tumbling into his arms. All he can do is hope that when it happens, he’ll have the strength to turn him down.

He can’t fall for his patient.

Not now. Not ever.

No matter how badly he wants to.

Unfortunate Narration

The performance left a lot to be desired. The narrorator was flat and didn't emote well. This story was good, I just wish it was a full length instead of a novella.

Sweet

Enjoyed this second story in the Rutledge Brothers series by Piper Scott. It holds up better if you listen to the first one! Enjoyable story...not crazy about the narrator, He is a little monotone for my tastes.

Elijah is an Omega and Silas is an Alpha are the MC’s of this book. The narration was good and I can recommend this book as a good read/listen. I love myself when I’m with you

Life is tough when you are living on the streets. And life is even tougher when you are living in a brothel and earning your keep on your back. But Elijah has made peace with his purpose in life, that is to give pleasure to other men without getting his own. When a bust into his brothel changed his life upside down, Elijah found himself in the care of Silas Rutledge who’s dead set on helping him and making him see his worth. Silas said he can be better and he’s meant for so much more. But when your life was full of constant abuse and condescension, it’s difficult to see yourself as something good rather than just a second class citizen. One man who’s set on changing the man he loves and helps him see his worth and another who’s set on not changing his ways. It would be a fun fun chase.

I admire Elijah for being stubborn and unchanging even thought he was the biggest enemy of himself. And mmmmm, Silas is one yummy Alpha. It was a slow-burn and trying journey for both of them but Elijah finally found his love and peace in Silas’s arms. Adorable! Dennis Adams is a new to me narrator but I think he did a good job. I’m looking forward to my next Piper Scott fix!

short and sweet

This is a quick listen, you'll want to read/listen to these in order, they could stand alone but with all that happens and the short length you'll enjoy it more with the whole back story. This one isn't my favorite I feel like it really needed a longer story and I just had a hard time believing the relationship. But it is a sweet story and Adams does a good job with the narration.

Don't save this one for later.....listen to it!

Silas and Elijah. This is book 2 in the series. A slow burn romance. Piper Scott crafts a story that was angsty and I couldn't stop listening. The characters are well developed and the story well written. The narration really brings the characters to life.

Love this short sweet listen!

I love Elijah and Silas! Their story is a short but so sweet listen. I just love how Silas shows how much Elijah is worth and he is exactly what Elijah needs. Dennis Adams does an excellent job with this narration. I like the voices he does for the characters and he brings the emotions in this story. Love this story!

Sweet and Enjoyable

This could stand-alone, but I wouldn't recommend it. These short stories should be listened to in order. New to me narrator, Dennis Adams, is now a new favorite narrator of mine. I listened to book 1, Love Me, right before this one and I really enjoy his voices.

Piper Scott does an amazing job. Even though it's a short story, it doesn't seem like it. The epilogue was exactly what I needed especially because of its length. I wish this was longer, but I'm just being greedy.

An Enjoyable Story!

This is a short, sweet, slow burn book about Elijah, an omega who was rescued from a life of being used and Silas, an alpha and Elijah's counselor. I love how patient and caring Silas is of Elijah. They really are sweet together.
Narrator Dennis Adams does another wonderful job.

Good follow-up story

A good slow-burn follow-up to the first Rutledge Brother's book Love Me, Save Me focuses on brother Silas. Silas is a rehabilitation counselor who works with troubled omegas. After The White Lotus is taken down, the omegas are brought in for counseling, including Elijah. Elijah was an omega in the sex-trafficking ring, and has been told his whole life that omegas are only good for one thing. Elijah has no interest in rehabilitation, but Silas just wants to help him understand that he is worth more than his omega genes. But when Silas begins to have feelings for Elijah, can he show Elijah his true worth, and show him that he's worthy of love?
This book is definitely a true slow burn story, but considering Elijah's backstory, that is not a bad thing. Elijah's progression throughout the story, him finding his own worth is a wonderful journey to read. Seeing Silas's patience and support of Elijah is wonderful. This story is a good follow-up to the first in the series and a good quick read overall!

Passionate slow-burn

Elijah believes his only worth is in what he can provide for Alphas as an omega, his body.
He doesn't even comprehend that there's another, better way to live until he meets Silas, his Alpha counselor.
As Silas helps Elijah unpack all the emotional damage done to him, they slowly find themselves falling for one another.
Seeing Elijah grow and realize a better way of life was absolutely beautiful and the narrator Dennis Adams did a wonderful job of conveying this emotionally compelling story.

Lovely match of story and performer

I really enjoyed the process of Elijah developing his sense of self worth. I am a big fan of feisty, independent Omega stories and to see this one from the complete opposite side was great. I was afraid we would get a problematic story where it felt like Silas was taking advantage of Elijah somehow but that didn't happen for me. The development of the relationship was slow and respectful of boundaries and I wanted these two to get their HEA. Dennis Adams used his voice perfectly to chart Elijah's growing strength and feelings of self-worth and to let us see how Silas was struggling with his own feelings and their seeming conflict with his professional responsibilities. This narrator and story were a perfect match.

Short and tough

Elijah has had a rough life. He’s gone from living on the streets to living in a brothel. But that’s fine. He knows who he is and what his purpose is. Omegas are only good for one thing, and he tries to be the best. Then a bust leaves him in the care of social services and specifically with a counselor determined to help him see his worth.

Silas has worked with many abused omegas in his time. He’s a sensitive alpha who uses his wits to coax his patients into seeing they are worthy of having a good life. Elijah is probably the toughest client he’s had so far and that’s saying something. Oh, and he’s attracted to the guy.

I normally love Piper Scott books and although I enjoyed this one, I’m not raving about it. It was good, don’t get me wrong, just felt incomplete. I knew it was short and have enjoyed novellas before but this one felt rushed. I never felt like I was fully immersed in the characters. That being said, I think the subjects of abuse and victimization were handled really well and I liked how the characters developed and how the story unfolded. There are more books in the series and I will be picking them up.

Dennis Adams is a new narrator to me and I think he did a good job. I enjoyed this book and will seek out more.

Short and sweet

This short story made me very emotional. It takes a well written story to draw an emotional reaction out of the reader. Scott approached the subject of sex workers and manipulation and control in a tasteful way. I was able to enjoy the story and directions it took. The characterization was wonderful, and despite it being a short story I didn’t feel that there was anything missing or rushed. The plot was solid and the dialogue was wonderful. The narration was great! Crisp, clear, strong pacing and passionate.

Overall it was A wonderful audiobook and I’d recommend other who enjoy A/B/O to read it!

Brilliant!!

This book is brilliant, From the way in which Ms Scott described the results of physical and psychological abuse in terms of self-estime and self-worth to the love, selflessness, respect and understanding Silas showed in every interaction he had with Elijah, the author displayed a profound insight in human nature putting emotions into every word. Mr Adam was up to the challenge matching an amazing narration and acting with this incredible story. The result is this book. Enjoy it!

A sweet little taster

A fun short story with another Rutledge Brother. This is Silas and Elijah's story and
I enjoyed this one but very different to book 1. Slower burn than I was expecting and a long time past over such a short story. Elijah healed and grew for himself but found love in Silas in the end.
