Short and Sweet

Saudade is an emotional state of melancholic or profoundly nostalgic longing for a beloved yet absent something or someone. It is often associated with a repressed understanding that one might never encounter the object of longing ever again.

Dr. H'Looder and Simon's mom, Kivia, have been thinking about and longing for each other for two years when this story begins. This is a short story so there isn't the worry of "will they or won't they" of the previous two stories. It gets right to it pretty quickly. Then again these two characters are mature and nurturing personalities and have been through a lifetime of hardship. They are fairly upfront and emotionally secure about what they want in a relationship. I do love the idea of the second chance love theme. Enjoyed the narration. The crisis of the story is pretty far-fetched everyone sees it but our good doctor. Good thing Kivia is ready to set things right.
