'Tis the season in Paterson, New Jersey: Lawyer Andy Carpenter and his golden retriever, Tara, are surrounded by holiday cheer. It’s even spread to the Tara Foundation. The dog rescue organization, not used to having puppies, has their hands full with a recent litter. Eight puppies are a lot to handle, and Andy is relieved when his co-worker Chris Myers agrees to foster them.

Myers, a newer employee at the Tara Foundation, did time for a crime he swears he didn’t commit. When Myers discovers a key witness against him lied on the stand, he goes to Andy to ask for representation in getting the conviction overturned. Myers thinks they can have this wrapped up by Christmas, no problem.

But when the witness is murdered, and Myers is arrested for the crime, things go from bad to worse. Suddenly, it’s all elves on deck to make a list and check it twice, so they can prove Myers is innocent.

Captivating Story

I have loved the mix of mystery and humor in each of Andy Carpenter books. Grover Gardener is wonderful as the narrator! I continue to be a devoted fan of David Rosenfelt work!

Surprisingly good audio

I never expected this audio book to. R as humorous as it is, nor did I anticipate the plot becoming as interesting as it is.

Rosenfelt has developed a wonderful FORMULA

I became addicted to it. I listened to all his novels to date. however, I do wish he stray away from his formula. I wish he dared to fail. maybe, win on appeal. I also wonder how come in his novels every bullet kills. as a riflery -instructor I know that most bullets do not kill. I also wonder why Rosenfeld asks for readers to write him letters on email and then he doesn't respond. don't invite us if you don't intend to respond back.

Lovely story - I can never figure out the end …

I like this author. Humorous but interesting and the mystery holds until the very end. The characters are fun.

Excellent as always!

Rosenfelt is far and away my favorite author. His plots are creative, his characters compelling and his humor always makes his books fun to read! This book is no exception! Unputdownable! Read and enjoy!

Andy another outstanding Xmas

We have listened to all of Andy’s retirement troubles and each one is fun to hear. The science was a little hard to believe but the characters and humor were still in force.

I Love This! But why?

I have binged this series, but it’s not my usual fare. I love John Sandford and J & F Kellerman (the parents). I adore Richard Ferrone’s and Simon Prebble’s narrations. I prefer very long police procedurals, thrillers and great characters. For me to go 20 novels deep into such short books with comic book characters is an anomaly. However, I had to stop to write this 5 star review before I buy and download #21. I hope you like them too.
