Publisher's summary

Miles O'Malley wants out of Christmas in the city. He rents a primitive cabin in the north woods of New York State, looking for peace quiet away from the incessant bell-ringing and endless ghastly songs. He's not expecting to stumble on a heinous crime, but when he does, his special forces training takes over. He's not expecting to find the love of his life, either, and he's much less efficient at dealing with that. Not a cozy mystery!

An Unexpected Christmas

Santa Baby: A Christmas Romance Thriller in The Miles O'Malley Series, Book 1 by G L Robinson. I really enjoyed how the author divided the book into parts 1, 2 and 3. I felt that this organised the story while maintaining a perfect flow as the story built to the climax. G L Robinson masterfully wove romance and a terrible crime while telling a very interesting story. The narration is done by Thomas E Burch whose baritone voice is enjoyable and perfect for telling Miles' story. The characters are so good and I liked the small town where it is set. This fast paced story is just right for Christmas magic.

Just Trying To Get Away From Christmas

This was my first experience with G. L. Robinson's work and I enjoyed it a lot. Miles O'Malley was just looking for some place to get away from all the Christmas activities, so he rented a cabin in the woods. While there, he stumbled upon a horrible crime. I liked the setting as the author's descriptive phrases made me feel like I was renting a cabin myself. I enjoyed the pioneer feeling engendered by the phraseology used in the tale. The characters were complex and multi-layered. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I recommend this story to others who enjoy this genre. Thomas E. Burch's narration was delightful and fit the ambiance of the story well. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Good start

I bought this after listening to a refreshingly well-written romance by the author. This interesting story is written in a different style than that one is—more like a step by step of the main character’s actions and interactions—though it’s still engaging. The latter part of the story has a shift in tone as the mystery escalates. I prefer the writing style of her romances, but it’s worth a listen if you’re comfortable with some language and violence. Listen at 1.2 to 1.3 speed.
