Walking away from the faith? Take this audiobook with you.

Faith has its messy seasons of intense digging. Some will carelessly demolish the precious hope, like a child with a Tonka truck in the sandbox. Others will work like measured archaeologists to uncover the museum-worthy gem they’d hoped for. This book will clarify the deconstruction landscape and help listeners avoid the pitfalls of modern deconstruction.

I think this book was very helpful for helping others who are questioning their faith, doubting, or have church hurts. Full of good conversation starters to help understand where people are in their faith. I liked his point to abide in Jesus—even when the weather is great. I think that’s key to lasting faith. Start with reading the Bible. Start with Jesus. Thank you for writing this book. I hope it helps equip others to be present, show up and help others who might be deconstructing their faith.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Faith and belief have never been things I’ve wrestled with but there are plenty of people in my life who have. I do enjoy thinking deeply and so I listened to this book to gain some understanding for the context of these challenging conversations. Scholz provides an excellent overview of deconstruction while challenging the “us against them” mentality that typically prevents respectable conversation. He’s an excellent storyteller and has masterfully weaved together critique, encouragement and deep thinking into bite sized hors-d’vours that leave you salivating for the main course- which of course, he’s left up to you to do your own preparing and feasting with those in the sandbox with you.

An excellent response to deconstruction
