Early in the French Revolutionary War, a young British naval officer, Lieutenant Joseph Duncan, finds himself unexpectedly in charge of a powerful frigate. He forms an unlikely friendship with a rash young Marine officer with a murky background. Together they seek answers that could expose treason, and along the way, learn the French are not their only enemies.

Outstanding Book

Sailing Toward the Tempest by Kent M. Schwendy is an outstanding and thoroughly engaging read. From the opening chapters, I was completely drawn in and remained invested until the very end. The pacing, storytelling, and character development made it both exciting and immersive. I genuinely look forward to reading more from this author and continuing the series. Thank you for such an entertaining and memorable journey.

Great character development

I am running out of great books in this genre. I was very much excited to listen to this story. Great story, well told and leaves me wanting more. Can’t wait for the next title.

A wonderful sea adventure.

Not a typical book that I normally read. However I was completely pulled into the story and the wonderful characters. The naval battles were well written and it felt like I was on the ship. This book is a wonderful step back into time to a world almost forgotten. I am hopeful that the story will be continued soon.

Almost Hornblower reborn, but maybe more lucky.

I liked the plot twists, you surprised me with how the last battle played out, and it's ramifications. I appreciated a minimum of salty language, and the honorable romance added a nice touch. I don't know if it was the reader or the author who replaced, "splice the mainbrace" with a mainstay, or the "weather guage" with the wind guage. The reader's timing was sometimes off, but he reads better than me, and I'll listen to the next book if this is to be a series. Thank you.
