Sailing is an international sport that offers many rewards. Good basic concepts were presented for learning

This concise book should give anyone who wants to learn a good solid foundational understanding of the most important concepts & greatly aid their learning! Well done !

Always good o hear the basics again.

Simple concepts like stated in this makes a difference when on the water.

Winds, waves , high grounds and other ships need attention when on water.

Very basic.

Though well laid out, this book was VERY basic. Also, the description of gybing seemed incorrect.

Short Easy Read for Beginner, Spouse, Kids or Crew

This book is what I expected--a very brief overview of sailing terms, how sails work, and what to bring on a day sailing trip. It's easy to get through in a afternoon, and short enough to read or listen to more than once as a review. My husband has been sailing for many years, and I am new to it. I found it very useful to listen to this book so I knew some basic terminology and felt less embarrassed as I began sailing. It is worded very plainly, so I imagine anyone, including kids, could understand it, especially if they have an experienced sailor who could help illustrate the concepts for them. If you have sailed for any time at all, this may be a bit too basic for you. but for beginners, I would certainly recommend it.

Clear and understandable advice on sailing a small vessel, and advice and terms everyone should know before setting foot on any boat.

Good Starting Place

Great book for those who are total beginners. Introduction to terms and concepts for landlubbers.

little light on some important details but a great brush up! An instruction on judging where the wind is coming from would be helpful for beginners since that is the basis for all that follows.

Great book for the first timer with no experience

this is an excellent book that you can go over and over to review and commit to memory all of the needed information contained.

More on weather and navigation is a need. The book is encouraging and does not make it aound difficult.
