Publisher's summary

Her heart is shattered. Her home is left in shambles.

And she is forced to give up the only man capable of putting the pieces back together.

Aurora Haverwood has loved Zachery Saberton for as long as she can remember. Her dreams of being his wife are cruelly dashed when the American Civil War draws to a close with news that Zach is missing and presumed dead. Refusing to believe he will never return to her, she sets out to find the truth.

Captain Zach Saberton, notorious blockade runner for the Confederate Navy, has outfoxed the Yankee War Department once too often. In order to save his neck, Zach agrees to go undercover in London to help the Union recover a million dollars’ worth of gold bullion missing from the failed Confederate Treasury.

When Aurora discovers Zach Saberton is alive and well in England, attending one social affair after another, she decides to pay a visit to her uncle, the Earl of Kendal, in hopes of finding some answers. The journey from her devastated homeland to elegant London society plunges her into a web of danger.

Zach, desperately trying to avoid another civil rebellion, soon comes to realize that it’s Aurora who holds the key to their survival.

But in accepting her help, he risks losing her forever.

Standing By Her Man

Enjoyed listening to this book in the Saberton series. Narrator was good. The war is over, but there are still conflicts among many. Zack Saberton is accused of being a part of the Lincoln assassination, but Aurora knows he is innocent. He is released, but must find out where the money went. The trail leads him to England. Aurora will follow him, but he must prove his innocence before anything else happens. I love the mixing of English and American cultures in the stories and believable characters.
I was given an ARC copy of the book by the author for an honest review.

Wonderful Book

This is another wonderful book about the Saberton brothers and the Civil War. The war is over and Aurora has been informed that Zach is dead and her life becomes a shambles as she tries to accept her loss. But she has been in love with Zach forever and when she learns he is not dead after all, she determines to find out the truth of his whereabouts. Zach was on the run for his role as a blockade runner for the Confederacy. When he is caught, he makes a deal with the US government and finds himself a Pinkerton spy in England. The reunion of Zach and Aurora is the beginning of the adventure of their lives and the lesson of learning to trust one another. Wonderful characters, great story, lots of adventure. I've listened to all three of Saberton Legacy Series and have enjoyed them all. I appreciate that Ms. Wright writes a great book without any inappropriate language or content!

Austenne Grey is a very talented narrator. She makes the characters come alive, making me get lost in the story.

4/5

Genre: historical, American Civil War
Summary:
Aurora Haverwood and Zachery Saberton love each other, but a lot stands in their way. First, he’s accused of something pretty awful and barely escapes with his life. But part of that deal sends him to England on an undercover mission to recover some missing money from the Confederate coffers.

Additional Comments:
• I think of the trilogy, I liked book 2 the best so far. This one was okay. The build up was nice. The middle meandered a bit. The end declared itself from afar. There was at least one cringey stereotypical female-does-something-dumb scene just to give us another half-hour to cover.
• Characters are endearing.
• Kinda wish Tori was in this more.
• Austenne Grey’s performance hit the right emotional notes.
• Not a huge fan of the style of epilogue we got. Could have safely done without it, but it’s fine.
• Favorite character is the lady who play’s Zach’s love interest. I’d love to see a spinoff of her adventures. Her backstory is just outlandish enough to work.
Conclusion:
Well-written. Nicely performed.
* I received a copy of the audiobook. I have chosen to review the book. All thoughts are my own.

Great Addition to the Series!

I was thrilled to listen to book 3 in the Saberton Legacy series because I had thoroughly enjoyed listening to the first two books. This family has found a special place in my heart as their stories have unfolded. That is probably why I enjoyed listening to Austenne Grey narrate because she treated these characters with care. Grey does a fabulous job with character voices with both countries involved. She created an exciting atmosphere and clearly reflected Lori Bates Wright’s wonderful story which was full of suspense and romance. This family faced many obstacles but they worked together and it paid off. Take a listen for yourself. I was given a copy of this audiobook by the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Good clean historical

This is a good clean historical that takes place after the Civil War. It is a romance with history and a mystery.
The characters were well developed and relatable.

This is the third book in the series. I have not read the other 2 books but there is enough back story so you can figure out what the series is about.

The narrator was new to me and did a great job with the characters.

This was a review copy and this is my honest review.

Enjoyable read!

This book is just what I was hoping for! It had a little bit of everything in it- romance, history, intrigue, etc.
I loved the characters and I loved the plot.
This is a Christian historical fiction, but it was done well (not a million scriptures and lectures).
I have not read all of the books in this series but I thoroughly enjoyed this book so I don’t think you have to read them all to fully enjoy this book.
The audio version of this book and it was fantastic. The narrator did a great job.
