Great narration! Good story.

I found this author after listening to the narrator, Chloe Pfeiffer, in another Christian series by Elizabeth Goddard. I enjoyed her narration so much that I sought out what other works she had done and found Lisa Phillips. I especially appreciated the way PhIlips integrated what was going on in the characters minds regarding their relationship with God. I think it also gave me pause to realize how much hurt is going on in people’s lives around us and that I need to be more empathetic.

This story was full of twists and turns. It was great how the lives of each character was wound together. God uses circumstances too bring about good.

Exciting start to the series

This is my first by Lisa Phillips and I loved it!! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and more by her!! (Great narration, too)

Police Officer & Medic Adventurous Love Story

I was intrigued by the story and wanted to keep listening. An unrealistic love story. Hard to believe a couple that both have severe trust issues with parents could actually make a relationship work. It’s a little frustrating when a woman character is attacked & in danger and doesn’t want help or protection from anyone around her. I like strong women characters, but sometimes the authors have them appear stupid when they go out and do things when their life is in danger.

Narrator's voice is too precise, emotionless, and stilted.

Emotionless performance. So much so I checked for a narrator's name. I thought it would say it was an AI narration. I really liked the book itself and plan on listening to the rest of the series, but the same narrator is listed for all of the books. I'm really hoping her narration style becomes more human and less robotic. Otherwise, this is a long series and may be hard to make it through them all, regardless of how much I enjoy the author. I will do my best to persevere.
***Had to come back and add to this review. I've had a chance to listen to books 2 and 3 and they are getting all 5 star reviews. Penelope, you go girl! I'm so proud of you. I can hear the person in the characters your portraying. The 'feels' you get when listening to audio books are what make them so much better than reading them. The narration is so good on those, 3 better than 2, and I'm confident the rest will continue that way. Book 1 was, I think, a case of first book boogie man jitters and you really overcame them. Looking forward to your future narrations. (:
So sorry Chloe (don't know where the Penelope name came from) you are a treasure. Had to come back and increase the stars for your narration. Your performance in the rest of the series definitely makes up for the first book narration.
