After losing his husband, Sammy Robustelli has learned to be strong while raising two children on his own. No matter what life has thrown his way, nothing seems too hard with his best friend and roomie Davey at his side. When the two friends learn that people believe they’re a couple, they can’t help but laugh. The very idea is a big joke...until it isn’t. It only takes a few wake-up calls before Davey wonders what happens if a guy might be in love with the best friend he can never have. It could never work for a pair of boys in need of a bossy top, right?

Story
Bryan Miller is satisfied with his uncomplicated life. He’s a discipline daddy who’s not in the market for any kind of permanent relationship. And why should he be? Like the waves he surfs in the small beach town he calls home, there’s always another body available to warm his bed when he tires of the current flavor of the week. Preston Wallace is a snotty rich brat with enough attitude to keep all the daddies from giving him a chance. He gets it. People are jealous of him for being rich, hot, and fit. It would take a strong daddy to take him in hand.

Davey’s rule number 86: A good Daddy will never lie to his boy...even by omission. Travis Miller has a pretty solid life in the small California beach town he calls home. He’s working his way up in the district attorney’s office, he owns a home with an ocean view, and he has close ties with his family. Life is good. If only he could find a sweet boy to call his own, life would be...perfect. Adam Nichols’ life has never been easy. Growing up in foster care taught him to be strong, so finding himself in a violent relationship was a shock.

A night on the town after a long workweek at my family's distillery should include shots and dancing - not a hot kiss with a handsome stranger. I'm straight. At least, that's what I figured until I find myself locking lips with a sexy city boy. Now, all my circuits are going haywire, and the spark that ignites between us makes me even more curious. Unfortunately, I kissed the one man who's off-limits: Cohen Mitchell - the sole surviving heir to the Mitchell Creek distillery, a rival neighbor my family has feuded with for nearly a 100 years.

A sweet, age gap, opposites attract romance!
- By RACHEL REED on 10-14-20
By: Lucy Lennox
Publisher's Summary
Davey’s rule number 83: Daddy will encourage his boy to be the best he can be and be supportive of his boy’s career choices.
Marcus Alves has waited most of his adult life to find the perfect match. A sweetheart who will love cuddles, need a daddy to help him thrive, and most importantly, be the type of boy that might want to use the binky that Marcus keeps hidden in his pocket. Now in his forties, he’s refusing to give up on his dream or the unused playroom that’s waiting for someone to enjoy.
Jeff Robustelli has had a rough life. Growing up in a commune with absent parents was hard for a rule-following, straitlaced guy with a genius IQ. When the uncle who saved him died, Jeff did what he does best - buried his head in the sand and pretended life wasn’t changing. Working in a daddy club has shown him what he really wants, but Jeff is too afraid to take a chance on something new.
When Jeff has a sudden need for a fake fiancé, he strikes a deal with the older man who always seems to be there when his world is crumbling and makes him feel safe. In exchange, he agrees to a fake daddy/boy experiment designed to let him try out being little...without any pressure.
While Marcus and Jeff navigate their “deal” and the unexpected new feelings that begin to emerge, Marcus also must help the younger man through a series of life changes that put him on the road to being the adult he’s been too afraid to be.
When everything in Jeff’s life is in turmoil, Marcus is his one stability. But can Jeff trust his own heart when nothing else in his life is making sense anymore?
This is the fifth book in a series about not-so-perfect daddies, adorable boys, and one sassy brat with an insane list of rules. Grab your fan and tissues because this series comes with both a high heat advisory and all the squishy feels that you’d want from a Susan Hawke book.

So Sweet and Gooey That Might Cause A Diabetic Coma
Rules of Obey is an Age gap, Age play, Daddy Kink , Slow burn, Sexy and Sweet, MM , Rom-Com with a HEA . Book 5 in the interconnected Davey's Rules Series , but it can be read as standalone.
It's an Ok read/listen ; a bit slow in pace and steam , for me. It's also über sweet , with some angst and a fair amount drama. Jeff and Marcus are a cute couple and their kinks compliment each other , perfectly. I like their story but it bored me a bit. There wasn't much romance ; was even surprised when MCs declared they loved each other.
Michael Dean narration was effervescent , animated , a bit OTT at times but then, the story itself is extravagant. Let's call it Baroque ... yep, that's it !
Anyways, it's my opinion . I know many have enjoyed this book a lot ; so , it might be me, not the book situation.
I received an AXC promo code through LesCourt and am leaving my unbiased review.

Not if fan of “little” kink
This was a good story, but I really was uncomfortable with the “little” kink. I guess I just don’t understand why. But the love story and care that Marcus gives is sweet. I am such a fan of Davy that I can’t wait for his storyline. I guess that’s why I felt the need to listen to this one too since I’m invested in the series.

Adorable!! I couldn’t wait for this one :)
I absolutely love this series and couldn’t wait for this book!
Susan Hawke has created a great daddy kink series with all different types of characters with challenges and lifestyles that just end up clicking together. Jeff’s is in need of finding his true self whereas his daddy Marcus has been waiting for the perfect boy and they just have both been through a lot and deserve so much happiness. It’s adorable to see Jeff find himself as a little boy and Marcus find everything he can in Transformers. I definitely can’t wait for the next book in the series! In this book we got to see a lot more of Sammy and Davey, and their little family so it makes you even more ready for their stories!
Michael Dean did an amazing job making this book fun and interesting to listen to. I absolutely adore his voice and talent! A must listen!

Great Addition to Series!
I enjoyed reading about Marcus and Jeff's journey to love. It's a really sweet story and shows that there's someone for everyone no matter how awkward a person may seem to be. Sammy and Davey are quickly becoming two of my fav characters and I love their shenanigans. I hope Sammy gets his own story in the future. This book is a great addition to the series. Cute
This is such a cute, sweet story with well-written characters. A Boy needs his Daddy, just like a Daddy needs his Boy. Jeff and Marcus need each other and what they both bring to the other's life. Jeff needs the comfort and stability and Marcus needs to be needed and wanted.
I loved this story and the wonderful narration that makes it even better.

Daddy Marcus and sweet Jeff
I've been loving this Davey's Rules series by Susan Hawke and this penultimate book did not disappoint. Michael Dean, who is one of my all-time favourite narrators, does a wonderful job as always of bringing the guys to life. The story of Marcus and Jeff is quite exciting in places, and I loved following along as Marcus coaxes out little Jeffy and helps Jeff come fully into his own. A highly recommended Daddy/Boy romance.

The rules must be obeyed!!
This is the next installment in the Davey's Rules series.
It is the story of Daddy Marcus and Jeff. Jeff is the nephew of the recenly deacesed Daddy's Lap owner Raphael.
Raph rescued Jeff from his parents religious cult when he was 18. If you have read this series you will know that Jeff was almost raped by Andrew a wanna be Daddy that was banned from the club when it ws revealed what he had done.
In this story Jeff is given the chance to tell his side of that incident.
It also tells the story of how he and Marcus come together.
I like how it explores his blossoming friendship with Mikey. How he gains his confodence and how Marcus brings out the best in him.
I also love his interactions with Davey and Sammy. (Raph's husband). It gives us an insight into Davey's blossoming friendship with Sammy.
Apparently the next one is the last in the series and is Davey's own story.
I have enjoyed this series very much and will miss these guys.
Susi Hawke has always given me great stories to read or listen too. She is one of my go to authors.
Michael Dean, well you all know my thoughts on his sultry voice as I have made no bones about the fact that I would die a happy girl listeneing to his voice.

Another Great Addition To The Series
I can't get enough of the Davey's Rules book. I've read and listened to each book in the series, and I've really enjoyed experiencing the stories both on paper and audio - I really find a different experience each time. As ways, Michael Dean does a great job with the narration. I especially loved his take on Jeff. Jeff is a little with a loving family who are so accepting of him, but a rough past life that makes him fearful of asking for what he needs. Daddy Marcus does such a good job of coddling him, but also helping him learn to reach for what he needs. lots of hurt comfort, character development, and of course cuddles. Jeff is the sweetest little ever, and I loved following his journey into embracing himself and what he needs.

What an absolutely beautiful story. I challenge any fans of this series not to cry (just a bit) during this one. Susi Hawke doesn’t pull her punches in the feels department, and while they’re mostly happy tears, Rules to Obey is a tear jerker.
Jeff is completely adorable as Jeffy, and seeing how happy he makes Marcus *gah* I was enchanted. These two are perfect together (as all the couples in this series are) but hey, it’s a Susi Hawke romance, so it’s no wonder I’m 100% satisfied.
… We’re all on tenterhooks waiting for Davey to find his man, and I’m getting suspicious though I’m not going to ruin anything for folks following this series, but dang, I can’t wait for the next book!
Just a note about the audio version, I truly don’t think anyone besides Michael Dean who could perform this series. His voices for these guys are just perfection, and the way he delivers the lines are so sweet and romantic, my heart literally melts. Mr. Dean totally gets what Susi Hawke is going for here, and I can’t imagine listening to anyone else performing them for me.

Daddy Marcus and Little Jeff
Rule #52 – If a boy is a little, Daddy never forgets a boy’s stuffie while traveling.
This is the fifth book in the Davey’s Rules series and I have to say it’s on par with the others. Which is to say I loved it. Jeff was introduced previously in the series and my heart went out to him. His uncle Raphael owned the club Daddy’s Lap along with his partner Sammy. The Raphael died way too young, leaving Sammy alone with two young children. Jeff was living with them and so was happy to step into a helper role, even as his heart broke. Raphael saved him from a horrible home situation and showed him a whole new world of freedom. Losing his uncle devastated him.
There’s a lot to unpack with Jeff. He was raised in a cult with an authoritarian father and a drugged mother. He was whip smart but his father was hell-bent on him marrying an elderly woman in their ‘church’.
Marcus is a daddy. He’s prepared a room just for the perfect boy who he has yet to meet. While having lunch with Davey, the ultimate boy, Davey offers this advice with regard to Jeff:
Here’s my tip. Take the lead and go full Daddy with him. He needs that. And for the love of Gaga, do not ask the boy to make a decision because you’ll be waiting for hours while he weighs the pros and cons.
At that point Marcus isn’t even sure Jeff will want to be his little boy, but they have set up a date because of a charity auction. Before that happens, Marcus witnesses Jeff have a breakdown of sorts and he realizes Jeff’s in a lot of pain. Jeff’s father has reappeared with more demands Jeff marry. Although the old woman has died, she apparently has offspring that will be suitable. Forget that Jeff is young and, uh, gay. In order to thwart his father’s plans, Jeff needs to get married. Enter the fake marriage trope – one of my favorites.
The relationship between Marcus and Jeff was clearly special from the start. Marcus always carries a binkie around and when he spots Jeff sucking his thumb, he hands it over. Jeff is reticent about the whole little boy thing, but he knows he can’t take much more stress. Having someone to shoulder the burdens? Well, kind of like heaven.
This book is a great addition to the series and I’m (somewhat) patiently waiting for Davey’s book. I also wouldn’t mind if Sammy eventually found someone, but that’s just greediness on my part. The story is narrated by the great Michael Dean (formerly Michael Pauley), who does great justice to this series. His transition from regular voice to little boy voice is brilliant and I just keep being more and more impressed. Great book and a wonderful telling of it.

In need of a fake fiancé...
Jeff has lost family and has had ugly things happening to him but he is still sweet for a genius. He finds a daddy that will pick him up and fiercely protect him. Awesome story. My first about a little. His happily ever after comes in the form of Marcus, a very respected daddy.

Fantastic, so much more to the story!
Yet another fabulous addition to the Davey's Rules series. This time Jeff gets his HEA. I've been waiting for his chance to get a story and the daddy he so clearly needs and Susan does an amazing job at introducing the two men and slowly bringing Jeff into the world of Daddy and Little that he's only looked on from the outside. Marcus is a perfect match to Jeff's innocent character, providing the care, nurture and guidance that the younger man needs as he faces several big obstacles in this story. We get to spend more time with Davey and Sammy (Jeff's uncle) which really brings the sense of family that Jeff is big on especially with how much he's gone through with them in recent years. Along with all of the happiness the two men experience in this new relationship, there is a lot to content with when Jeff's father comes around making demands that send Jeff on another journey he never expected.
There's a lot going on in this book and it's all perfectly balanced as Marcus and Jeff learn each other and how they fit so well together right alongside the drama that Jeff's family bring into the mix. I'm so happy that these two men got this story and I enjoyed it right from the start as Marcus starts in on his plan to get to know Jeff.
Michael Dean is perfect in the role of narrator for this series and these characters really come to life, fully allowing the reader to experience all of the emotions and dive into the plot.

Great story, great series
Once again Hawke's characters shine through her writing. I truly enjoyed Marcus and Jeff's dynamic as well as this storyline. Dean's narration once again is lovely and his ability to bring characters to life is a true talent.
