Publisher's summary

Davey’s Rule number 85: Daddy will always treat his boy like he's Daddy’s world...because that’s how it should be!

Note: This is a collection of short stories that follow the final book in the Davey’s Rules series.

Revisit all your favorite couples and families from Daddy’s Lap in this five-part, seven-story collection that shows them all living their happily-ever-afters.

These stories include:

  • A unique bachelor party, wedding, and new proposal that take place during a long weekend in Vegas.
  • The day when Travis and Adam officially adopt their daughter.
  • The fabulous moment when Sammy and Davey say "I Do".
  • Mikey and Landon finally share how they became a couple.
  • And finally, get ready to smile as Davey and Sammy welcome a new baby.

This collection of shorts is number eight in a series about not-so-perfect Daddies, adorable “boys”, and one sassy brat with an insane list of rules. Grab your fan and tissues because this series comes with both a high heat advisory and all the squishy feels you’d want from a Susan Hawke audiobook. Please be aware that this is a bonus book to the series, a collection of shorts rather than a full-length novel.

Loving glimpses

This is several stories in one collection that gives us an updated glimpse into some favorite couples' lives. I enjoyed each little story and cannot get over how much this series makes me smile. Each character and their voices are so unique and beautiful that you will not want to turn off the audio.

The narrator is amazing and is able to transform each character so well.

Best Happy Ending for Everyone in the Series

I recommend listening to this only after you have listened to the first 7 other books in the series, as your heart will melt all the more to understand where the characters were in their own stories to where they are now in this happily ever after ending. Susi Hawke did an incredible story wrapping up everyone's HEA (again, as each of her books in her series ends with a HEA/HFN). This is one series I will definitely be listening to again, which is honestly rare for me. Michael Dean's narration was impeccable!

The perfect end to this fab series!

This was such a happy surprise of an addition to Susan Hawke's Davey's Rules! I loved this collection of epilogues for almost all of the couples--and one throuple--allowing readers one last visit with the entire cast. Rules for Loving was sweet and very much the perfect end to this great series about Daddies and their boys. As always, Michael Dean did justice to every single character he brought to life and I couldn't have imagined any other narrator giving voice to Hawke's sweet, sassy, and scintillating series. Five stars!

Such a Loving Ending

Rules for Loving
MMy Thoughts and Review:

A loving series of short vignettes to wrap up the "Davey's Rules Series." Susan has lovingly taken the fans of the series into the future where we can drop in on a Vegas beach wedding, a proposal in a gondola floating through a canal in Venice. We get to witness a little girl finding a forever home with two daddies who are also a "Daddy and boy."
As happy news comes for a puppy, we travel back in time to learn how his boy and Daddy met before bringing him home. There was also the story of our favorite Daddy Diva and his Princess adding to their family with a HEA for the masses.

My eyes may have watered a smidge over events in past books from this series, but I really shed a few when this one was over. Happy and bittersweet tears for the end of one exceptional series that I have loved reading from the beginning. The cast in the books are people who stay with you long after the story ends. Michael Dean is phenomenal in bringing the characters alive in the audiobooks. I love this series and will treasure it for years to come.

I can't give a poor review...

...because this isn't your usual book so I can't in all fairness judge it the way I would a novel. But the story fillers in this collection reminded me of why I didn't ask for some of the stories that they complete. Davey was still pretty irritating in parts, and the relationship and behavior of Landon, Michael/Mikey, and Chris/Topher were not al all engaging to me. It just made me shake my head. And as always, if you like Michael Dean, you'll like this one.

Series finale - you need to read/hear this.

This is the finale in the Davey's Rules series. It's a catch up to let us know what happened next.

Maybe it should be called An enagagement, 2 weddings and a baby?
So it starts us off in Vegas at the wedding weekend of Daddy Bryan and Preston. It involves a supersexy bachelor party.

It tells the story of how Davey proposes to Sammy and then later their subsequent wedding.

It gives us a view of how Mickey and Daddy Landon met.

And rounds off with the birth of Davey and Sammy's baby.

A fitting end to this series.

I know I will be wanting more updates in the future, so I will be pestering Susi for more in future

As always it was beautifullt ready by Michael Dean.

A beautiful end to a sweet series

This is a collection of short stories about the various boys and daddies from Daddy's Lap in the Davey's Rules series and it's nice to get the happy endings for all of the guys in their continuing stories.
Michael Dean, who is one of my few one-click narrators, does a great job of voicing the guys and making these fun, sweet tales from S. Hawke come to life. Highly recommended Daddy/Boy collection of short stories. Best enjoyed after listening to the complete series in order.

My favourite couples are back!

I have loved this series from the beginning. Watching each couple coming together – through laughter, more than a few tears, and joyous celebrations. I’ve felt invested in these relationships. I grieved when Raphael died, but have rejoiced that Sammy has gone on to find happiness.

These five vignettes are all about established couples. One is a look back. Landon and Mikey were an established Daddy/boy pair when they took on Topher as their puppy. But the origin story was never told – before now. I chuckled as they endured the worst date ever through to becoming the solid couple they are today. They are so perfectly suited and bringing Topher into their happy home was seamless.

The story of Travis and Adam was always sweet, but their decision to adopt their daughter Mickey was precious. There are so many children in the world who need love, I was glad to see the two men opening up their hearts this way. As Mickey says, “Happy Pappy, don’t be sappy.” Needless to say, her rhymes had me in stitches.

Then there’s the wedding in Vegas. You know when the boy says to his daddy, “toothpaste isn’t lube, Daddy”, that there are some fun reminisces. I had enjoyed Brian and Preston’s book, and seeing them tie the knot was special. Add to that weekend the most romantic proposal - as well as a bachelor party to remember - and it was a great story.

Of course Sammy and Davey were not to be outdone, so they had to have a wedding as well. I was truly touched by their special day. Anytime a family comes together it’s perfect. Which brings me to the final story. I hadn’t really thought about Davey and Sammy expanding their family. They have the two wonderful children from Sammy’s marriage to Raphael, so I figured their family was complete. Uh, how wrong was I. Naturally Davey deserves the opportunity to have a child of his own. The Diva Daddy needs to be able to strut his stuff. Can I see him changing a diaper? Yeah, I can. He was great to Sammy’s two kids so I know he’ll be amazing. Does he stress at the whole birthing thing? And does the thought of being responsible for someone for the next eighteen years bring him into paroxysms of panic? Yeah, those too.

This book was a great way to revisit all of my favorite couples while adding more to their stories. The vignettes are told with the same humor and yummy-feels that I expect from a Susan Hawke book. I was so pleased to see Michael Dean return to narrate these stories. I always enjoy his performances and this one was as good as the others. I’ll miss these men but something tells me I haven’t seen the last of them all yet.

Cute and sweet vignettes

I have loved this series in it's entirety.
These sweet little short stories were the perfect ending.
We get to see pivotal moments from a different perspective and additional information filled in some blanks.
As usual, Michael Dean has done an exceptional job of bringing these beloved characters to lufe.

Perfect round up ending

This was a great ending to a wonderful series.

I loved how we got to see everyone from the previous books and so many point of views. It gave us a great glimpse into everyone's journey into the future, a little look at the past and was hot and heart warming all at the same time.

It was wonderful and makes me sad to see this story end.

Michael Dean made it all very real and wonderful, adding to the story with his masterful voice

Fantastic ending to the series!

Just when I didn't think it could get any better, Susan Hawke gifted us with this collection of stories giving us a glimpse into some of my favorite couples HEA with a proposal, two weddings, a baby, and lots of unforgettable moments. It was amazing catching up with Preston and Brian (my personal favorites), Landon, Mikey and Chris, Adam and Travis, Davey and Sammy and Cameron and Scott.

And with Michael Dean's sexy voice you simply can't go wrong, so if you're a fan of the series this is a must-read. Super recommendable!
