Absolutely beautiful!

The story is very sweet and easy to follow, the characters are well thought out, and the descriptions of the area are beautiful. There is no conflict which is nice, the characters are dealing with issues, but the they do not take over the story. I own the book, but the audio brought out more of the underlying emotion and imagery.

The narrator is Terrific. easy to follow and brings a lot of the love, humor and emotion through out the story. I can't wait to hear the next one.

The city boy finds love with the country girl

Upon the recent death of his father, San Diego businessman, Patrick, learns that his family owns a mansion...albeit one in total disrepair...in small town Idaho. Patrick needs a break to grieve his loss and decides to use the time off to visit the mansion.
Rachel is a country girl at heart...she loves her small town and working on her parents' farm but she has dreams of purchasing the old mansion and turning it into a B&B. She has been saving up for a while and has just about enough for the down payment...as soon as the mansion goes on the market. Rachel is not prepared to learn that the mansion's owner is in town to check on the mansion...nor is she ready for him to stay and renovate the mansion...or for him to relocate his business to the mansion. Rachel is even less prepared to fall for the sexy city guy who, it seems, is determined to worm his way into her life and heart. Patrick takes Rachel up on the offer to stay at her family's ranch and, over the next couple of weeks, gets to know the family and the town...and he likes them all. Moving his business to Idaho seems the best idea, if only his board would approve. Patrick is also falling for the perky Rachel but can he break through the walls around her heart?
This is a sweet quick story that will have you laughing, crying and wanting to shake a few ppl...it's THAT good! The narrator was perfect for this story...the change in characters was distinguishable and seamless. You will not be disappointed.

It was okay.

This was an okay story. It was fast past, and I loved the idea of the abandoned mansion. Throughout the story, I was waiting for some big issue to pop up (a conflict of some kind), but that never happened.

I wasn’t really a fan of Rachel that much. Instead of telling Patrick that she’d been interested in buying his mansion, she only tells him that she doesn’t like his renovation ideas. When she invites him to stay over at her parents’ farmhouse, she basically forces him to help with chores around the farm, knowing that he more than likely, he doesn’t have the right attire for manual labor. I mean she could have simply talked to him about her issues but chose not to. There just seemed to be a lot of times when she was bitchy towards him and he, unfortunately, was totally clueless as to why she was upset with him.

The narrator did an awesome job! I always love coming across narrators that can do a really good male and female voice, no matter what the narrator is. She is definitely one of those kinds of narrators. I’d love to listen to more audiobooks by her.

Questions/Comments:

Am I the only one that wasn’t surprised (at all) that Patrick’s company didn’t want to move to Rachel’s the-middle-of-nowhere town? I mean seriously. Having so many people pick up with their families and move to an area so far from their original office in the city, yeah, that sounds like a great idea.

Why did they keep saying they were going to renovate the house into a hotel instead of a B&B? I mean there is a big difference between the two, and I doubt anyone would build a hotel in that sort of area anyway.

Was anyone else under the impression that Rachel’s “mama” would struggle without her? I mean, Rachel’s mom seemed to rely on her a lot throughout the story. What would she do without Rachel being around? No wonder she didn’t really want Rachel to buy the mansion.

I’m not really sure what Patrick saw in Rachel. It’s like he fell in love with her after she did her performance on stage. Yeah, they had their little moments here and there…I don’t know, I just wasn’t feeling it.

Sweet Story!

Roping his heart is a sweet love story that is full of vivid imagery. Jaclyn Hardy wrote the characters with depth. I enjoyed the banter and humor this clean story had. The storyline was original, and it pulled me in. I loved hearing the backstory of the mansion too! Hundred year old homes have always fascinated me with their grandeur. I thought the performance by Sara K. Sheckells was awesome. She has a wonderful voice that was easy to listen and smoothly distinguish the various characters. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Roping his heart review

What a sweet new aged love story.

We first meet Patrick on the day of his fathers untimely death, while going through his fathers office he stumbles up a feed to a property his family had owned for generations. Upon discovering the address he heads out to see what exactly the mansion and surrounding property has to offer him. Upon his arrival at the home he meets a local by the name of Rachel, who had been coming to the mansion for years and who has been saving just as long to buy the property to start up a hotel.

With electrically charged emotions between them both, they try to be as calm as they can be about there feelings for each other.

But what happened when Patrick says the wrong thing to Rachel about her singing. Can they overcome this or will stubbornness drive them apart for good, or will they finally be together like they want. But when Rachel finds out the truth months later, it changes her life for the better.
