Publisher's summary

I work in a sports agency with jocks all day long and there's no one I'd want to date.

Emily

There is nothing better than a mocha frappe on the way to the office in the morning and Sunday spent on South Beach. I'm getting closer to the big 3-0 and finding that perfect guy is getting harder and harder even though I work for a sports agency buzzing with jocks. They are married, players, or jerks. Life changes on a dime when I'm sent to Maine amidst a blizzard to rescue a rookie who's managed to get himself in trouble his first week playing for the NHL team, the Maine Maulers. I can’t wait to get Wyatt back on track so I can leave this godforsaken frozen state that seems more like Siberia than New England. I'm in a mood by the time I track Wyatt down at the hockey pond. His devilish good looks combine with the way he fills out his old jeans in all the right places ...and how sexy he looks leaning on his hockey stick…maybe there is something special about this young jock that is pushing all my buttons.

Wyatt

It’s supposed to be the highlight of my young life when I score my first goal in an NHL game. But how was I to know that the last girl in the bar after that celebration with the guys was the goalie’s sister? And that she's getting even with her boyfriend for ignoring her? Now the team is out of sync and messing with our goalie’s head as he’s losing games over the drama. Management isn’t happy, so I need my agent to go to bat for me. Only it’s not Dan who shows up, but some smoking hot big city chick who looks like a nine on a scale of 10, and that means she’s off-limits as in high maintenance. I need her to help me fix my reputation with my team as the press is sniffing around for the dirt but after that, I will happily part ways with her only…. Emily turns out to be everything that makes my world complete.

I just don’t know if she can give up her city ways for a life in rural Maine when she loves the sound of the ocean and sand under her toes.

Rookie in Love is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity opposites attract, fish out of water steamy romance with a HEA. The series is best if listened to in order.

Quick, fun listen, excellent audio quality

This is your typical contemporary romance novel … with sports and superstars. Mildly entertaining enough to have helped pass the time during my workday (well part of it, it’s a very quick listen).

Tropes, etc. this hits:

🏒 Age-gap romance (ish). (He’s 19, she’s 28)
🏒 Hockey romance.
🏒 Set in Maine.
🏒 Down-to-Earth sports superstar.
🏒 Dog lover / puppy rescue!
🏒 Workplace romance.

Continuity/ Plausibility—

*I don’t really see a 19-year-old saying things like “pretty little number” or a bunch of hockey superstars finding random hookups to be unusual (for examples). I’m not sure if the author’s slightly out of touch with reality, trying to make it a thing or just not concerned with keeping it real, but a few little things like this did take me out of the story at times.

Overall: 3 stars.

Audio:
🦩Excellent sound quality and narrators. Very well done on this front—5 stars.

Absolutely adorable sports romance.

Rookie in Love is an adorable sports romance about a young hockey player(Wyatt) who unwilling jeopardizes his career on the new team. and Emily a older woman acting as his agent/PR Rep, sent in to savage his career. Both suffer from distrust and pass relationship issues and they bond over an abandoned puppy. They work together and build each other up overcoming all obstacles thrown in their path. Very cute story with a HEA.

Zoe Geller did an excellent job in showcasing the age difference, and the transition of acceptance. The narrators are also commended as they did an excellent job of portraying the characters.

Charming!

Emily is a sports agent, located in MIami, and she's been given a new job to repair the relationship between Wyatt and his teammates. He plays hockey for the Maine Maulers, so she treks north to see what she can do to help him out. He made a rookie mistake by sleeping with a "one-night-stand" who turned out to be the sister of his goalie. He's lost faith in dating and swears off women, but that's before he sets his eyes on Emily. They have an immediate connection and it isn't long before they become more than just friends. But the paps interfere with their privacy and they have to pretend to be a couple. Needless to say, that's not difficult because they've already fallen in love. The story is not without some angst, but it's self-inflicted by thoughts of "I don't think I can do this" and long-standing insecurities. The true star of this show was Mika, the German Shredder! It ended a bit abruptly and the story called for an epilogue.
Tom Haire and Camille Quinn did a wonderful job with the narration. Their dynamic voices blended well and they handled both male and female voices with the right tone and articulation.

Sweet Enemies-to-Lovers Romance!

This was my first Zoe Beth Geller's book. This is the first book in the Maine Maulers Hockey Series, a Sports Romance. Wyatt and Emily's enemies to lovers romance is sweet, cute, funny, and passionate. I liked the instant attraction, the humor, and the banter. Tome Haire and Camille Quinn did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Jagged Ice, the next book in the series. #TheFlock

Sports Romance

Rookie in Love by Zoe Beth Geller is a sports romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Camille Quinn and Tom Haire. This is the first book in the Maine Maulers Hockey series.

This is the first book of Zoe's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Wyat and Emily. I liked that we got both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Jagged Ice to be released on audio so I can get Alexandre and Callie's story.

Camille and Tom did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like sports romances, contemporary romances, or instant connection romances.

Good easy listen

This is a good story. Nice characters. Not much angst. Basically a feel good story. Not a favorite since I like a little something (memorable characters or drama) with the stories. Secondary characters come and go easily. I thought something else might come along with his one night stand or her goalie brother..even the teammates. I did listen to this on audio. Both narrators are new to me and did a good job.

Wyatt and Emily

Story of Wyatt and Emily. I am not largely into sport stories. This one was fun. Wyatt is a 19 yr old professional hockey player, new to the team. After a one-night stand causes problems for him on the team, his agent steps in to sooth the situation. Emily is a 29 yr old lawyer, who the agent sent in his place. Story starts off with them cautious but good to each other. The story is fun, from a pickup hockey game to rescuing a puppy. As time goes on, they realize they have fallen for each other. The story is interesting. Narration is well done.

I received a free copy of this audiobook, and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Short and Sweet

This is a pretty quick and sweet listen. I enjoyed the story and it was nice to have an older woman/younger man dynamic though I do feel like he was a little too young for it to be believable but hey it's a romance so I went with it. The narration is done well though I feel like Haire was too old for Wyatt. Overall I enjoyed the story.

cute age gap

I love listening to this hockey age gap romance. Emily, A PR agent, was sent to Maine to straighten out a mess that plagued young rookie, Wyatt.
Coming from Florida, she wasn't prepared for the extreme cold.
Little did she know that while there, they would become the gossip news.
I loved their connection, Wyatt knows what he wants. Emily has her doubts, how she would fit in.
I love how their relationship developed throughout this story.
Tom Haire and Camille Quinn narration is very good. they made it an enjoyable listen.
