Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be simple. All Navy SEAL Nathan Malone had to do was rescue three young girls from a Colombian drug cartel, then allow himself to be captured just long enough to draw out a government spy. That was before his mission went disastrously wrong… and before his wife, Bella, was told that Nathan was never coming home.

Bella’s mourned her husband’s death for three long years, having no idea that he was still alive. Forced to assume a new identity, the man Nathan was is now dead. If he can get back to his wife, can he keep the secret of who he really is… even as desire threatens to consume them? And as danger threatens to tear Bella from Nathan’s arms once more?

Simply Dreadful

Any additional comments?

After about 8 hours of listening I could not stand this book! The author used repetition as if she were getting kickbacks for using certain words, e.g. “I’m a SEAL”, “I loved my SEAL”, “I’m the wife of a SEAL”, “Irish eyes”, “My Irish”, “Special Ops”, “Special Ops”, “Special Ops”. I cannot believe this book was written in 2008! It reads like a romance novel from 20 or 30 years ago…I couldn’t stand to hear about this guy’s “tight denim jeans encased in leather chaps” one more time. I enjoy romance and even the occasional erotica novel, but the sex scenes in this book went on FOREVER. “Wild Card” was entirely too long for the plot to have been so poorly developed…the actual story would have been okay, if the author put as much effort into plot as she did into the sex scenes. This book is almost 16 hours, of which maybe 2 hours were actual plot development. I won’t even say “if you like sex, you’ll like this book” because even the most sexually starved person will be like “get on with it already” or “not again". Halfway through, I started to fast forward through the sex scenes and there was nothing worse than hearing “she tasted like sunshine”, “he was throbbing with need” after like 6 or 7 minutes were already skipped. Oy vey, this book was simply dreadful. The narrator was okay…her males had similar sounding moments, but overall she did a fair job with the various accents.

15 HOURS OF PURE PLEASURE

If you know L.L.'s books then you know what to expect - fantastic writing, great plot, awesome characters and strong leading men that are hot hot hot. I think this has been ABSOLUTELY her BEST book that I've listened to - it was tender, thoughtful, touching, torturous, tense and totally addictive.

I thought I needed to sleep but this is one you just don't want to stop listening to but, at the same time, you're enjoying it soooo much that you just don't want it to end.

Worth a credit? Not just a YES but a HELL YES.

10% Story 90% Sex

This book had the potential to be a reasonably good story. But it went the way of the extended erotica that just gets to the point I say get it over with already...good grief. Average chapter has 2 pages of story and 10 of the sexual encounter, or maybe it just seemed that way to me.
I am not anti sex but it becomes repugnant and the story is lost to the listener. Of course I realize there is a readership for this genre.
This is totally personal but I cannot abide this narrator and will avoid in the future. This is the 3rd book I have suffered thru her narration. We are just not capable.
I love a good love story, but a story is more than this. And sex can be more than this banging.

IRISH EYES!!!!!!!!!

6'4" OF HARD MALE
You really got to let your intelligence go on vacation to enjoy this one. It is like Lora Leigh took everything that makes women swoon and put it all in one man. He is a Navy Seal, owns his own business at the same time, drives a black wicked Harley, has dark blue eyes with overly long eye lashes, has long lean muscles, spent years collecting wine, SPEAKS GAELIC, has Irish eyes (whatever that means), and he is 6'4". He disappears for six years, comes back (he did have some plastic surgery) and his wife hires him in his old business. She does not recognize him, cause the world his full of 6'4" hard men. You ladies know several right?

Kresley Cole's werewolves and vampires are more believable then these characters.

Sweet Love Story, the Kind Every Woman Wants!

This is the best of the Elite Ops books from Lora Leigh. I laughed, cried, and couldn't wait for each chapter. I read this book last year, but when I saw it on audiobook I bought it right away. This book has all the normal Lora Leigh style erotica - but the story itself is so much better than any of her other books. You can feel how much the characters love each other and how tormented they are without each other. The suspense and action are fantastic, keep you wanting more. I hope Lora brings the other Elite Ops and Seal books to audiobook, loved it!

Wish I had got this one sooner!

Would you listen to Wild Card again? Why?

Yes, it was not what I expected. It was more! When I read the summary I got the impression it would be somewhat boring. I read reviews and saw so many liked it, so I finally decided to try it. I'm glad I did.

What other book might you compare Wild Card to and why?

I think it's a little like the Wicked Lovers Series by Shayla Black.

Any additional comments?

It's one that I'll enjoy again and I already got the next book in this series before I finished listening to this one.

Naughty and nice.

This was a great listen. It's typical Lora, and purely enjoyable. The characters are good, story good....

The only issue I had with it at all is that it seems to follow the now very popular formula of Broken x2 = hot sex life.

surprisingly interesting

What did you like about this audiobook?

I like this book. I am not one for Navy Seal characters but this book was pretty interesting. It involves the usual self doubt, over analyzing, and self loathing characteristics. However, this particular book kept me interested. I'm a loyal Danielle Steele reader and don't usually spend my nights reading authors such as Lora Leigh. I've recently added a few new authors to my list... needless to say! Anywho, the book has action, drama, and sex ..lots of very descriptive sex.
I wasn't sure at first with the two prologues but it eventually picked up and I was totally enthralled .

The narrator was really good. No complaints there.

Love my audio smut!! and Lora is one of my favourite raunchy authors. Well narrated and I didn't get bored at any point, big plus given the 15 hour sit.
