    "Fantastic!"

I absolutely loved this book. I've read the book itself several times and finally decided to pick up the audio so I could listen to it in the car and doing stuff. It was awesome. Pyper Down really brought these great characters created by KS Haigwood to life. I would definitely listen to it again

    "Loved this continuing story"
Where does Midnight Moonrising rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is definitely in my top 10 of books I have listened too.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Royal with his humor actually was my favorite.

    Any additional comments?

The continuation of the prequel story definitely kept me on my toes. I love the different POV's in the book. The narration was awesome. The story itself never let up. I did not feel at any point that there was a lull or feel the need to skip chapters because every minute was so full that I didn't want to miss a single one.

    "Loved it!!!"

Love this Book! It has everything, werewolf's, vampires, witches and even Lion Shifters. Love the story from start to finish and hated when I couldn't listen. The story is well written with characters I loved and twist and turns I didn't see coming. I think I am half in love Phoenix myself. Pyper Down did an excellent job bring the story and characters to life

This was my first book by K S Haigwood, I had no trouble keeping up with story line.
Liked the way that the solution to one problem becomes more problems.

    "Not a fan."

I didn’t read Book 1 prior to starting Book 2. On that note, I would recommend reading Book 1 before moving further otherwise: A. You won’t know the details as to why Mena killed her husband/former pack leader. B. You won’t know what the connection between Mena and Phoenix is. C. Or why she was so eager to trust him after having known him for less than a week.

With all the questions/issues I had with this story, I would not recommend and won’t be continuing this series. I swear the author made all the character’s stupid based on their actions. They forget to tell the new alpha the rules, they don’t know how alpha’s bonding works, not telling her pack what was going on, etc.

    Narrator:

    Pros:
    1. She has an excellent speaking voice.

    Cons:
    1. Very annoying style to her voice!
    2. There isn’t much variety in speaking voices or when a character would laugh between the different characters.
    3. She constantly does a bunch of random long pauses in the middle of sentences where no pause, much less a really long one should be. Ex: Mena had to go upstairs and……………………. Tell Phoenix what happened.
    4. She talks with an inflection to her tone. Every other sentence it seemed like she would phrase it as though it were a question, having the last syllable go up at the end. Annoying!!!

    Questionable areas in the story:

    1. Mena was married for twelve years. How did Mena not know her husband was a werewolf, much less a pack leader? Didn’t he disappear a lot? Weren’t there lots of random people that came around the house? Why hadn’t her husband told her the truth?

    2. Why did Mena staged her husband’s death to look like a murder and not natural causes or an accident? Common sense would have had them skip the murder part because that would have the cops more involved in their pack. The pack/leader is obviously not a smart one.

    3. Why didn’t Mena or Phoenix wipe the knife off that killed her husband and Chris? Again, common sense. Obviously, a centuries-year-old vampire isn’t that smart either.

    4. There’s a part where a vampire (Jackson maybe?) shows up to get the knife back from the cop. He figures that after drinking the cops blood he could lay a broom or something on the ground and the cop will think he tripped over it. Who cares that his head wouldn’t be hurt/sore after supposedly hitting it on the pavement.

    5. Mena is the pack leader of a pack she’s only known about for a very short period of time. Why in the world did she not have a sit-down with other members to learn the basics, rules, everything about being a werewolf/pack leader? Again, common sense since he hadn’t known werewolves were even a real thing.

    6. Mena sneaks out of her house after Katie’s murdered. Phoenix ends up sneaking up behind her in an attempt to scare her. Mena is a werewolf. Werewolves are known to have a great sense of smell. So, why wasn’t she able to tell who had her based off his smell? Hadn’t she just been commenting about how good Phoenix smelled? There’s also a scene where, I forgot the bad wolfs name (the one Mena destroys), sneaks up behind Mena. Mena being a werewolf can’t seem to tell if the individual is human, much less male or female. The fact that she’s glad she doesn’t have a male wolf inside her? Yeah…

    7. Phoenix was mad when he walked in and saw Jackson with a dead body. What does he do? He counts like he’s dealing with a little child.

    8. Why did Mena think that if Phoenix drank her blood it would hurt him?

    9. Why did everyone think that if Mena’s wolf took control of her body for good that it would lead to “hell on earth?” The wolf didn’t have magical powers or anything.

    10. Mena has sex with Alex as Mena (yet, the author keeps going on that the wolf did). Yet, she’s the one that initiates it and seems to enjoy herself (orgasms twice) yet, later acts like it was torture having sex with him. She didn’t enjoy it, but tells Alex she enjoyed it, “she lied.” We know the wolf wasn’t the one having sex because she was too weak to take over.

    11. Why did the wolf go to sleep when Mena was getting ready to tell Alex about everything?

    12. Why would they refer to the werewolf human side by their wolf name? That made no sense to me.

    13. Alex gets beaten by Darren and no one even knows it’s happening until AFTERWARDS. What about the nexus spell? The author messed up there.

    Comments:

    1. This has to be the first werewolf story where the wolf/human seems like she has something else going on besides being a werewolf. In every other story I’ve read/listened to the wolf never actually talks, yet the human side knows what the wolf is thinking/wants. Additionally, it’s true the wolf can take over the body, but it’s normally due to basic instincts (scared they’re about to die, need to fight, extra mad, etc.) and that’s when the eyes change, fur might grow, claws might come out; the wolf and human are one, not two entities, so there also wouldn’t be any secrets between the two. The wolf side doesn’t talk to the human side like it’s a person. Wolves are animals (humans technically are too), but they don’t talk. I just wasn’t a fan of this new take on the werewolf story.

    2. Mena obviously knows nothing about werewolves. She says she’d have four legs in wolf form and so she’d gained two more legs. Um…that’s not how it works, Mena.

    3. When Katie and Mena are out to lunch, Mena talks about Phoenix. Katie says she’s never met him AND doesn’t have any issue with him. Huh?

    4. I’m SOOOOOOO tired of reading how the two main characters fit together so well when having sex.

    5. I get that Mena’s wolf was too exhausted to come to the front when Mena had sex with Alex (kinda sorta), but it was strange how turned on Mena ended up getting when she was supposedly not interested in Alex in that way.

    "Great start to a series"
    Any additional comments?

Great start to a series. If you enjoy paranormal stories this is a really good one. Entertaining, interesting, and enjoyable story. Well written with some unique elements and twists.

It took me a bit to really get into the story. It just didn't pull me in right away and I started and stopped it several times. Little by little the story pulls you in until it grabs hold and keeps you listening until the end. I didn't realize there was a prequel to this book, I think if I had listened to it I may have been drawn into this book much sooner. I don’t think it's a must to listen to the prequel though.

Talk about a love triangle. This one is definitely interesting and complex. Not sure exactly how I fell about it though. Having to battle 2 sides of yourself (literally)that each want a different man is an interesting yet disturbing twist. Especially when you are not always able to control both sides of yourself and can't control what one side is doing.

Told through multiple POV's. Large cast of great characters. Does end in a cliffhanger.

Vampire's, Witch's and Werewolves all mixed up together in murder, revenge, romance, betrayal, action, suspense and twists you won't see coming.

Pyper Down did a good job with the narration. I think this is the first time I have heard her narrate a book. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken. Nice even pace. Some really good character voices. Her male voices are not bad but could use a little something more to separate them. It was hard to tell at times who was speaking. Overall though easy to listen to for long periods of time, easy on the ears and enjoyable.

    "Interesting story"

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book was well written and narrated with an interesting plot. I feel like it is part of a series, but I haven't read any others, so I feel like I am missing out on important events. I understand that is not the author's fault, but I think I would have enjoyed it much more if I had more background info. Some series flood you with info from previous books in the series in case you are just starting, but this one leaves you guessing, which is fine. I've noticed a few grammatical mishaps, but all in all it is well written and certainly worth your time and credit if you follow the series. I won't give away any spoiler information, but there is mystery, intrigue, betrayal and romance, all in a paranormal setting! What more could one ask for!

This story was good. Loved all the twists and turns. It is really long though. The main character(female) went through a lot and still has some development to go through! Love Phoenix, he is pretty hot!

    "whoa!"

I didn't know if I would enjoy this book as much as I did. Characters well developed and there was a lot going on that I didn't want to miss a single thing. The narrator is awesome too! I'm not big on reading PNR because I prefer to listen to it. As long as Pyper Down continues to narrate this series I'll be listening. "Fantastic story"

I Couldn't wait to get stuck into this book and I wasn't disappointed.
Mena, after being bitten by her husband then killing him, is now a newly turned werewolf and also the Alpha, her heart wants the high vampire Phoenix but her wolf wants the human homicide detective Alex who knows nothing about supernaturals! Can she really unite vampires and wolves whilst learning how to be an alpha?
As though that isn't enough, there's betrayal within her pack and her wolf is hiding a secret from her that could result in death and destruction for everyone, Mena has till the next full moon to find a way to take back control of her wolf or forfeit not only her life but also those joined to her thanks to the Nexus!
There's so much happening in this book with Mena juggling her new life, her conniving wolf and two men. I love Mena's character and couldn't help but feel sympathy for her, Alex and Phoenix, just which of them will she choose ? Can she really have either of them ? The twists and turns and unexpected surprises make this a very addictive read and I for one couldn't get enough.
