Publisher's Summary

I was ruthless. I was feared. I had sacrificed. Myself. Her. Everything.

Living in a world where I was worth more dead than alive was a choice. I was a bad man; I never claimed to be anything else. I've done things I'm not proud of, seen things that can't be unseen. I've caused pain that I can't undo.

It was all my choice. Every decision. Every order. Right and wrong never mattered. Until her.

She was under my protection, until she became my obsession.

But who was going to save her...from me? The devil himself.

Fate brought us together. Destiny destroyed us.

    Any additional comments?

I am emotionally satisfied, exhausted and thrilled with this listen. It was so suspenseful and one of the best listens I have had in a while. This was worth five credits. The devils number should have been called so many times but instead this cold hearted bastard was left standing. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. With an ending that will leave you wanting more 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    "Wow Twist and Turns ahead!"
What made the experience of listening to El Diablo [The Devil] the most enjoyable?

I fell in love with this book from Chapter 1. I loved the duet performance with both Lauren and Marico.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Martinez, he was sweet and was always looking for the women in his life.

Which character – as performed by Lauren Sweet and Marcio Catalano – was your favorite?

El Diablo performed by Marico was perfect, his Spanish was perfect. Marico made El Diablo swoon worthy!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would love to see this book as a movie. Boss would be the tag line.

    Any additional comments?

This books starts off with a bang! but toward the middle it slows down. What ever you do don't stop the ending is so with it.

    "fantastic!!!"

This book is already amazing. Marcio and Lauren made me love this story that much more, and they put so much life in to these characters it's unbelievable. If you haven't read this story before you listen let me tell you a few things. One shame on you and your missing out. One Martinez is literally the Devil it's not called El Diablo for nothing. He will make you hate him one chapter then love him in the next. Lexi is such a strong and beautiful woman and has not by any means had it easy. She didn't let that get her down or let Martinez walk all over her either. So yes this is definitely a book everyone should read, listen, and fall in love with. Thanks M for making another man that we all love. xoxo

    "Stunned Speechless!"

I was STUNNED, AWED, and left SPEECHLESS by both the MIND BLOWING story and STELLAR narration! It was PHENOMENAL and I freakin LOVE IT!

    M. Robinson delivered an incredible story, but it was the characters I fell in love with. I really appreciated how she development them. We get a lot of the history first, and I liked the characters were not developed by going back and forth from past to present. We get a front row seat, and watch the events in Martinez's life unfold, and shape him into "El Diablo." Then she brings in Lexi's character at the right time. It was a flawless execution in developing the plot and characters. This is the kind of story that will stick with you well after you finish it!

The narration was the icing! Marcio's performance literally gave me chills form how well he portrayed the characters. The Spanish dialogue was smooth, and had a natural flow, the accents were flawless, and the pitch and tones were perfect. His acting talent shined through loudly, and he brought each scene to life. From the cold hearted killer to the lover, his performance really did this story justice! Lauren delivered an outstanding performance as well, it's just a big portion of this story is from Martinez's POV, and his character makes this story. Lauren's voice was pleasant, and she did an amazing job with the emotions. You could feel the anguish Lexi went through and my heart broke for her character. Kudos to both narrators for an unforgettable performance!

While this is a spinoff to The Good Ol' Boys series, it really felt more like a stand alone. I never felt like I was missing information, but could see how it tied in nicely with the other series. El Diablo was a riveting story with excellent world building, depth and shocking plot twists that will take the listener by surprise. It's dark journey, and one you don't want to miss out on. For those who have KU, this is an amazing find! I received this audio from the publisher for an honest review.

"Dark Romance With Several Twists and Turns"

Without a doubt an unpredictable dark romance with multiple shocking moments that left me dumbfounded.

The dual narration was amazing and brought the story to life. Marcio's accent was perfect! He portrayed the main character flawlessly! Most of the story was told from Martinez's POV. Lauren's voice was also perfect when portraying Lexi. I could feel the emotion coming from the narration.

The story is so complex and full of twists and turns. It was an enjoyable rollercoaster ride that wraps up surprisingly sweet with a HEA conclusion.

    "Great story, especially the ending"

I received this audio book free for an honest review. I have to start by saying that the first 21 chapters could have been condensed into probably 3 or 4 chapters. I was getting bored. I know the beginning was to set up the story, but it was a bit too much. When the book picked up, WOW. The author did an excellent job of writing this story. The suspense and thrill outweighs the romance, but when the romance comes into play, it is mind blowing. I'm not talking about the sex, I'm talking about the psyche of the two main characters. Good vs. Evil. However much the gorgeous Alejandro believes he is Evil, the beautiful, pure Lexi is attracted to him. The beginning has Alejandro's love mate as someone else. The beginning of the story threw me off a bit, I knew that the pair weren't really meant to be together, as I'm sure the writer wanted you to think. The deep spark just wasn't there. The narrators did a great job with the accent, the soft sexy voices, the different characters. In the end, I really enjoyed this book. Great Job.

    "Very Impressive!!"

    ◄◄ My Thoughts ►►

I love the rush of excitement I get when I completely ignore the blurb and reviews and judge a book solely on it’s cover only to realize I’ve judged it so wrong! This book was nothing like I expected; its so much more. If you’re looking for a book that will draw you in and sink its claws into you, look no further. El Diablo is a wickedly sinful and complex study of the human condition. That’s really the only way to explain this book that chronicles the tragic existence of Alejandro “El Diablo” Martinez.

I was captivated and mesmerized by the story. The plot is complex and gripping. The execution is flawless. I felt the full range of emotions while listening to this one. I was elated, heart-broken, confused, hurt, frustrated, and in awe. Yep, all that from one book!

    Here’s what I absolutely loved:
The storyline - Seriously folks, it’s so far from the norm. The book spans decades. It chronicles Alejandro’s life from high school to mid-life. It’s not a ‘wham bam thank you ma’am’ sort of book.
The twists and turns of the plot – I was knots while reading this, but afterward it all made sense and I fell in love a little bit more.
The hero or rather anti-hero, Alejandro. He did it for me in a big way. It definitely didn’t hurt that the narration is sheer and utter perfection. I’m talking panty-melting, sexy as sin narration ladies! More on that later.
The writing - M. Robinson has a new fan. This was my first time reading one her novels, but definitely not the last. It is hands down one of the most brilliantly imaginative gritty books I’ve ever read. The nuanced writing in some of the more difficult sections of the book is masterful.

Overall, I was beyond impressed by her writing technique.
In a nutshell, I really enjoyed this one. I only had a few minor issues with things that were a little bit outside my comfort zone. This book is dark and may not be suited for everyone, so heed the warning.

    I rate it 4.25 Stars

Audiobook review: El Diablo is narrated by Lauren Sweet and Marcio Catalano. I will definitely listen to this one again. The intricate plot and complex story demands a re-do, but so does Marcio Catalano. Oh my dear lord in heaven, this man’s voice had my knees weak. Let’s not even get into the phrases he spoke in Spanish. I was a goner! Ok seriously though, if sultry accents are your thing grab this now! It’s dual POV, so not all Marcio, but Lauren Sweet held her on too. I obviously recommend the audiobook version! :D

    Any additional comments?

This audiobook was given to me for a honest, unbiased review. This was great. I was worried in the beginning because this is a spin off of Good ol' boys series, which i have not read, now i will read them. Since i have not read that series i was worried I would not be able to understand the book. Boy was i wrong, there is no confusion or character disconnect that one would expect. I loved how the surprises just kept coming. There was never a boring moment in this book! The narration was spectacular, the vioces really made the scene come alive.

I was going to give up after first 20 minutes of listening because of amount of swearing in the book. It was unbearable even for my men ears. The story is full of cruel and sexual scenes but still has got a bit too much f-words. But the story kept me going and listen as much as possible. In some places I would suggest replacing repetitive phrases with synonyms for example "an air which wasn't there" or "in three thrusts". On the hindsight El Diablo is much better than other English audiobooks I listened. The audiobook finishes on a positive note.

    "4.5 Explosive Stars"

I've got to be honest and say, I wasn't fully invested until part 2, at which point it just got better and better, so much so that I was pulling my hair out and crying and shouting at my phone. I sure am willing to dance with the devil! Martinez was evil, heartless and I loved him! With some gruesome scenes, some highly emotional scenes, and a whole bunch of panty melting sexy scenes this book took my completely and utterly by surprise. I was well and truly blindsided. I had so many theories, some correct, some way off base. Heart wrenching at points towards the end. So many revelations, so much passion. This is a true action packed romance that spans Martinez's whole life as one of the biggest crime bosses in America. I'm completely disorientated as I get off this rollercoaster ride of a book. I loved loved loved it. The narration was perfect.

Where does El Diablo [The Devil] rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

El Diablo ranks high in audio books I have enjoyed reading, I was really impressed by it. The story is brilliant, really well written and the narration is first class. It kept me totally engrossed all the way through. It was so good I was able to read it really quickly in two sittings because I found it so compulsive.

What was one of the most memorable moments of El Diablo [The Devil]?

I think the whole book was memorable, I did find the swearing a bit hard to get used to, but once I did I just accepted it. Lexi suffered terribly throughout her life and I thought the way El Diablo treated her was excruciating. There was only so much that could be overlooked because of his upbringing and circumstances. I was relieved to find there was a good reason for his actions, but I still did not like what he had done.

Have you listened to any of Lauren Sweet and Marcio Catalano ’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not heard the narrators before but they were really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the way they read the book. It was a pleasure to listen to them. The recording was clear and crisp and I found no faults at all.
