Publisher's summary

A standalone story in the best-selling Six Pack Ranch series by New York Times Bestselling Author Vivian Arend.

Nothing comes easy. You’ve gotta work for it.

Matt Coleman always figured at this point in his life, he’d be settled down with a family. Since his ex split for the big city, though, no way will he give anyone else the chance to drop-kick his heart. Physical pleasure? Hell, yeah, he’ll take—and give—with gusto, but nothing more.

Hope Meridan is working long hours to hold on to her new quilt shop, going it alone since her sister/business partner ran off. Sex? Right, like she’s got the time. Not that she doesn’t have the occasional dirty fantasy about Matt. Fat chance he’d dream of knocking boots with her—the younger sister of the woman who dumped him. Nope, she’ll just have to settle for friendship.

Friends would be far easier if there wasn’t something combustible going on between them. And when casual interest starts to grow into something more, their tenuous bond strengthens in the heat of desire. But it may not survive the hurricane-force arrival of the last person either of them ever wanted to see again….

Warning: Small-town rivals, men in pursuit and family meddling—in good and bad ways. Look for a cowboy who knows how to rope, ride, and rein in a hell of a lot more than eight seconds of sheer bliss.

Great read

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and I loved getting to see Matt and Hope come together and figure things out. Matt is ready to do some healing after things went so bad with Helen and things take a surprising turn when he ends up being drawn to Hope. He starts seeing her in a whole new light and at first isn’t sure what to do about it since she is Helen’s sister. I loved how they went about things when they finally went that direction. I was drawn in and engaged the entire time. The characters were great, loved getting to see the rest of the Coleman family and the antics that happen. This story had plenty of hot sexy times as well as the relationship building and was a ton of fun to read.
The narrator did a good job with the story and the characters.

Great storyline.

This is the third book in this series based around three brother.
I found this one had some interesting aspects to it. The way the
two main characters had to learn to trust again after they had their
heart broken by other before.
Plenty of depth to the story and also the characters.
The narrator has done a brilliant job of bringing the characters alive.

Working for It

Matt Coleman and Hope Meriden don't have it easy. Given who her sister is, she should be considered off-limits, but I like how they still move forward and let their attraction play out.

I sometimes forget that Hope is very much not an innocent angel, but I really love how she's quick to dispel that misconception. It's a bit hot and plenty fun. Ultimately, I love her and Matt together - possessiveness, protectiveness and all.

Helen continues to leave a less than stellar impression with her antics. I am left wondering if professional help should be mentioned as a consideration.

Unlike the first two books in the series, this one focuses mostly on Matt and Hope. There are Coleman family gatherings, so we still get time with them, but it's not quite the same.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is again Tatiana Sokolov. She continues to do well with all of the Colemans and their friends and family.

Thoroughly enjoyable in audible.

AUDIBLE
Thoroughly enjoyable in audible.
Even though I have read this series a few times, having the audible versions is superb.
Being able to listen whilst driving or doing housework is always a bonus.
But listening to these two find their way to each other through a few unusual obstacles is fun.
I was kindly gifted t his book by the author.
BOOK REVIEW
I love the friends to lovers scenario in this and all done with the Coleman family giving advice, helping and getting underfoot.
I really enjoyed the honesty and bluntness Matt and Hope had in their relationship. Saves a lot of grief.
Matts rotten ex just happens to be Hope's sister, which makes for a few interesting times when Helen pops back to town.
Matt was a charmer, slowly working his way to realising he had a great future ahead of him with Hope.
The quilt competition was a superb idea, I loved the fact the men had to do it themselves and the surprise at the end was so cute.

The Younger Sister

Rocky Mountain Desire is the best of the three books in the Six Pack Ranch series that I have read so far. In the first two books, listeners/readers will get a glimpse of Matt Coleman's relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Helen Meridan. After Helen has cheated and abandoned him for city life, Matt lost heart in seeking a long term relationship with the opposite sex. It wasn't until a strip dancer got his interest without realizing it was his ex's younger sister, Hope.

Hope wasn't happy about her sister, Helen abandoning her with a quilt shop and apartment lease but Hope made the best of keeping her quilt business running and keeping a roof over her head.

Both Matt and Hope met again but this time, they were willing to try dating each other without the sex. The complication was when Helen returned back to Rocky Mountain.

With Helen being back in town really test Matt and Hope's relationship. The good thing was that Matt and Hope have based their relationship on honesty and friendship. I was really glad about this. If Matt didn't trust Hope, their relationship would have failed. I love the ending but their HEA won't be announced until the next book in the series. I guess this is one way of following up to see how Matt and Hope are doing.

The narrator, Tatiana Sokolov did a better job with this third book. It was almost like the narrator was trying to get a feel of the characters but didn't really get into it until the third book in this series. I hope the narrator keep the momentum going for this series.

Poor narration BBC

Unfortunately one person narration rarely works. The male and female characters voices come across poorly.
