Publisher's summary

By day, Jonah St. John is a criminal analyst for the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. By night, he produces Sinister in Savannah, an investigative podcast, with his two best friends. Jonah's life revolves around three principles: a man's word is his oath, friendships are priceless gifts, and love is for other people.

When the Sinister in Savannah team delves into the 38-year-old murder of a drag queen, they quickly discover that the story doesn't end with the alleged killer's confession in 1995. Continuing the investigation could have fatal consequences for Jonah and everyone he holds dear, including his irresistible intern.

To love is to lose: a lesson Jonah has learned the hard way. For a decade, he has embraced solitude as his penance for a past mistake. Then came Avery Bradford, a man whose warmth and sunshine infuses Jonah's battered soul and challenges his resistance. Over the past eight months, Jonah has soared closer and closer to Avery's flame until the thing he's feared the most becomes the one he can't live without.

The chill of danger merges with the heat of desire, forming a deadly superstorm. Will Jonah seek shelter or ride the lightning?

Contains mature themes.

Very enjoyable:)

Filled with likable characters, and riveting to the end. The story covered topics that need to have a light shine on them and the love interests were sweet.

MM cozy mystery

This was a pretty great MM cozy mystery. Light on the spice and with a good mystery to solve. Not too complicated or scary. The voice on the audiobook was a little more suited to regency romance than a strong fit for the story, but still enjoyable!

If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would

This is an excellent, well thought out story. The characters are really well developed and there are plots within plots to keep you interested and engaged all the way through. What is a great story is made so much better by the excellent narration performed by Tristan James. He brings the characters into 3D and I loved it. I had read the book before I listened to the audible and totally enjoyed the listen. Don’t miss this one, it is well worth your time.

📖 Story comment: Good pace, entertaining story, interesting characters.
Jonah and Avery are delightful and I was thoroughly entertained with their story.

I listened to the three Zero Hour books before the Sinister in Savannah series back to back and enjoyed them all.

🎧 Narrator comment: Tristan James can be a narrator you either enjoy or don't. Personally I love him, I go through phases where he's just what I need in a narrator. I enjoyed his reading of this series and the Zero Hour series, he's kept the characters consistent (which makes me happy) and will happily listen to them again.

Engaging & Sexy

Love the vocals. Great performance with side accents. It was a little jumpy for me in places like from one day to the next, but overall a great story.

The book is great but the narration is meh

Full disclosure- Tristan James is not my favorite narrator. He also did the Zero Divergence books. While his southern accent wasn't the best I could tell the characters apart. Jonah, Felix, and Rocky are in that series too but they don't sound like caricatures. Unfortunately I can't say the same in this book. I lost count of the number of times he voiced Jonah and Avery so close I couldn't tell them apart. Also, I've lived in Georgia for 27 years and I've never heard accents like those in the book. Lots of country accents these days but very minimal genteel. And certainly not from every character. I think it's great for Marla but not so much for Ricky...so limited to over the top characters but not everyone all the time.. On top of that they're inconsistent throughout the book. Ugh! The story is great but the narration not so much

Loved it

From start to finish this book had me enthralled. The suspense, the romance, the hurt, all the feelings. I loved getting to she Jonah on a more personal side. His devotion to Marla was unexpected. I enjoyed how his relationship with Avery unfolded. I was very shocked as the “bad guy” was reveled.
Great story! Can’t wait for the next book.

Loved it!

Loved this spinoff series. Loved Jonah and the adorable Avery. As with all of Aimee Walker’s books you get suspense, great characters and hot romance. I can never say enough good things Tristan James and his narrating skills. The combination of all these factors made this audiobook great!

No.

Ok first, I normally like Tristan James but this time around everyone sounded the same. It made it very difficult to tell who was speaking.

The mystery was the best part of the story. The romance was extra my forced. As was St. James’s trauma.

I’d give this one a pass.
