Rewind

Had a hard time listening to the narrator's "sing song" intonation. Story was good but found the fast forward, pause, rewind etc distracting and not useful.

Little hard to follow

Good story but it took a while to figure out the pattern of rewind, fast forward. I liked the reader’s voice except when she dropped it so quietly to be a whisper of a voice inside a character’s head. Turn up the volume to hear the words, then, suddenly her full voice returns painfully loud. Interesting characters and interplay.

This is getting a bit stale....

I’ve now read five books by this author. She uses the same tired plot device in EVERY SINGLE ONE. I keep thinking she might quit trying to be cleverly confusing with the back and forth (with different versions of same), but it must be that she doesn’t trust herself to as a writer to attempt something new. Her basic ideas are good, which is why I’ve kept trying. The narrator does a great job, so it’s fairly pleasant to listen while working. However, it becomes aggravating to realize it takes fully 75% of her books to get to the interesting stuff.

Don’t waste your time after reading one of her books because now you’ve read them all.

it was ok.

The rewind, play, stop thing was so very pointless and annoying. The story was ok if you were able to follow it.
it was not at all shocking or twisty.
her other books are WAY better. I promise.

B+ for this author

This was well read, kept me interested, but I feel that it stopped suddenly at the end. The Rewind "xx seconds" comments didn't seem to connect or I didnt catch on.

Wish I could rewind and not purchase this book

I am really tired of these books that keep jumping back and forth in time, repeating the same scenes from different characters' viewpoints. It is gimmicky, distracting, and often confusing. I don't understand why authors are so in love with this plot device. In this case, it acts to cover up weak plots and a lack of character development. The story is very predictable despite the smoke and mirrors. And the pause, play, rewind, fast forward comments...I don't see the point of it, adds nothing to the story.

Really good just one small irritation

I really enjoyed the story and the characters. the narration was really well done. the part that drove me crazy was the bizarre jumping back and forth by minutes and seconds when in fact we were jumping back and forth by weeks or days. I just found it irritating and distracting and learn to ignore it.

Favorite author/ narrator combo

I was super excited to delve into another mystery with my favorite author/narrator, but I just didn’t find this book as good as the author’s others. I’m still looking forward to her next release.

Enjoyed it quite a lot

Howard has become one of my fave authors. The first book I read by her was, 56 Days. I really liked it. The next book I read was The Nothing Man, and I loved it! I thought Nothing Man was better than ‘56’. Rewind is along the ‘56’ line for me. I enjoyed quite a lot and definitely rec it. I feel like there was some muddled aspects of the plot/story, but Howard’s writing, and Collins wonderful Irish lilt, kept me captivated. I gave it 3 stars but it’s really 3 1/2.

The narrator didn’t work for me.

I’m not sure if the book was add, would’ve been without this particular narrator. She was overly dramatic throughout the straightforward, simple things in the book, I will look for her name, going forward as it will keep me from reading/listening to.
