Little hard to follow

Good story but it took a while to figure out the pattern of rewind, fast forward. I liked the reader’s voice except when she dropped it so quietly to be a whisper of a voice inside a character’s head. Turn up the volume to hear the words, then, suddenly her full voice returns painfully loud. Interesting characters and interplay.

Rewind

Had a hard time listening to the narrator's "sing song" intonation. Story was good but found the fast forward, pause, rewind etc distracting and not useful.

it was ok.

The rewind, play, stop thing was so very pointless and annoying. The story was ok if you were able to follow it.
it was not at all shocking or twisty.
her other books are WAY better. I promise.

B+ for this author

This was well read, kept me interested, but I feel that it stopped suddenly at the end. The Rewind "xx seconds" comments didn't seem to connect or I didnt catch on.

This is getting a bit stale....

I’ve now read five books by this author. She uses the same tired plot device in EVERY SINGLE ONE. I keep thinking she might quit trying to be cleverly confusing with the back and forth (with different versions of same), but it must be that she doesn’t trust herself to as a writer to attempt something new. Her basic ideas are good, which is why I’ve kept trying. The narrator does a great job, so it’s fairly pleasant to listen while working. However, it becomes aggravating to realize it takes fully 75% of her books to get to the interesting stuff.

Don’t waste your time after reading one of her books because now you’ve read them all.

Favorite author/ narrator combo

I was super excited to delve into another mystery with my favorite author/narrator, but I just didn’t find this book as good as the author’s others. I’m still looking forward to her next release.

Wish I could rewind and not purchase this book

I am really tired of these books that keep jumping back and forth in time, repeating the same scenes from different characters' viewpoints. It is gimmicky, distracting, and often confusing. I don't understand why authors are so in love with this plot device. In this case, it acts to cover up weak plots and a lack of character development. The story is very predictable despite the smoke and mirrors. And the pause, play, rewind, fast forward comments...I don't see the point of it, adds nothing to the story.

Great story

This is a really good story. The narration was a little slow for me but that was easily fixed by setting the playback speed up a little. The story was definitely better then average and had me still asking questions up until the very end. Great mystery!

hard to follow on audio

I found the story hard to follow as a listener as it jumped between characters and time. The story itself was intriguing and for most part I enjoyed the story, and I like the narrator. At times the narration was so quiet the words were inaudible--- there dramatic effect, and then there's "can't here what's going on unless I turn it up enough to risk blowing out my eardrums"
