What a marvelous combo!

I’m thrilled that I’ve found the Grimm books and will read every one of them. I love the characters, the Fells, Gatward and Parsons. Gatward tells a great story and Parsons is one of the best narrators I’ve ever listened to. On to the next books!

Not as good as the 1st four books in the series

I have really enjoyed the first 4 books in this series, so I'm sad to say I'm disappointed by the 5th one. Nothing really happens until the very last couple chapters. Kinda of like an extended " MacGuffin". And While I expect a great deal of exposition about Harry's world and its people, this book takes it to such an extreme it's like slogging through a swamp. Sometimes I would skip ahead in chapter just in frustration. Visit the house .. Visit the sheep .. wash and repeat!

Aubrey's narration remains spot on, and I intend to continue with the series assuming this one is an exception, But I cannot imagine ever re-listening to this one.

Fooled me

Thought I had this figured out early on but listened on because Aubrey Parsons is so enjoyable. It was a surprise ending for me.

I am truly enjoying this series.

I give the books in this series a 4 or 5 rating
and, indeed. this one has a lovely , solved haunted house mystery. I like the colorful descriptions of clouds, sky, storms, fields, fells (what is a fell?) people, the new dog, small town and country Life. BUT what about the sheep?
I just listened for the 2nd and 3rd time for the answer. Two books later the sheep are mentioned- more to come, I'm sure.

Excellent series so far; excellent narration

I’ve listened to the series in order through Book 5 now. Something I really appreciate is how the main character has grown over time, and Wensleydale/Yorkshire itself plays a role in this. I also admire the way the plots vary from book to book, as in, it doesn’t seem like the author came up with a great “formula” and is sticking to it. I also love the author’s notes at the end of the stories. They provide a glimpse into how he comes up with stories and they also convey a warmth and graciousness—somehow refreshing nowadays—with which the stories also seem to be suffused.

Loving this series

I love the sense of place as much as the wretched face DCI with a heart opening as a result of the place.

A fantastic series

I started reading the Harry Graham novels a few months ago the writing is of course superb, but the humor in it makes me at least laugh out loud of course it’s all serious but the interactions of the detectives and their interactions with a book makes you think that it’s a really special series of books. They are not glory depressing etc. you’re in for a treat meeting Harry Graham and Aubrey Parsons is no rations just change the voices are very astonishing.

Another good book in the series

The author further develops characters doctors that have appeared in most of his previous novels. He also continues to develop , The setting as a one of the major characters. It brings to life everything theverything there there continues to be struggles with some differentiation of the different voices in the audio versions but it's difficult with all the different accents to achieve, not to mention the different genders. It's an enjoyable listen, With a good plot.
