Acerca de esta escucha

He wasn't looking for trouble.... But when the cops are knocking on your door, trouble's definitely found you. And this is where Wil Marshall finds himself after checking in to the Longhorn Inn. It could all be a big mistake, but Wil's not getting much sleep. Then the motel owner - who is drop-dead gorgeous and feisty to boot - saves him from an even worse night behind bars. Now he owes her one, big time....

Pearl never wanted that run-down motel, but her aunt didn't leave her much choice. And then this steaming hot cowboy shows up looking for a place to rest. Next thing she knows, she wants to offer him more than just room service. But if he calls her Red one more time, he won't be the only one accused of murder....

Sparks are definitely flying, and before long, the Do Not Disturb sign might be swinging from the door....

I grew up in Bowie, all of the places actually real. I’ve beeen eating at Doug’s Peach Orchard since I was a small child. All the the other towns and landmarks are exactly the same. Loved this series

This series is great. Good link between stories. The performance is really good I just feel there could be a better voice changes between characters. However the second book I could tell the difference between them.

Great read

First book I've read by this author even though she has been writing for years. This book was hotter than I expected with a solid romance and a small town vibe.

Sweet, hot, small town romance

Loved the book, another good Carolyn Brown book. Based on the cost for audible I wish the books were longer.

Good read

The first book was a little stilted so a bit annoying for the veteran audio book listener. This one has a much better flow and I look forward to the rest of the stories.

Not deep but a sweet love story.

Much Improved

It's like she has a list of stereotypes and uses them as often as possible in her books. So far, in this title alone we have "Indians" (Don't get me started on that alone much less a character referring to herself as "free, white and over 21") with poker faces and someone who can drink everyone under the table just because they're Irish. And of course, her red headed character in this story has a temper. This was written in 2012. Maybe over the course of the past few years she's grown beyond shallow and sometimes bigoted stereotyping. I hope so.

The sub plot with Lucy is actually the best part of the book. Imbedded in a sea of immature "here, I'mma write me a cowboy romance" fluff were a few real, honest moments that you could touch and feel surrounding Lucy and her arrival in Pearl's life. It doesn't last, but I think that's because hard subjects are easier to dig into for honest feeling than daily life.

Give it a try, see what you think. I've been vacillating between irritated and bored with a few moments interspersed that have kept me listening.

Lordy, the stereotypes...

Carolyn’s romances are always sappy….good sappy! But sappy. This one had the hot cowboy with a lotta heat in the story. It should have been less sappy. BUT the narrator just killed the heat. She was just too sweet, too all-the-same, did not live up to the hot cowboy. At all.

Sappy made sappier
