Publisher's summary

After 12 years of playing basketball at the highest professional level, Brian Grant could have been forgiven for thinking that the hardest part of his life was behind him, that he'd be able to kick back and enjoy the fruits of his considerable labors. But soon after his retirement from the NBA, Grant was diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease, ushering in a challenge greater than any he'd faced before as well as an opportunity to embrace what really matters in life.

In Rebound, Grant shares his remarkable life before, during, and after those NBA years with no shortage of compassion and wit. With esteemed basketball writer Ric Bucher, Grant shares his story in raw and candid fashion, as he takes listeners to Sacramento, Portland, Miami, and beyond; to the airplane 30,000 feet in the air where he first came to understand the source of the tremors in his hand; and to the summit of Mount St. Helens alongside five others with PD, where he once again put himself to the test and defied expectations.

Incredible

Brian Grant is the real MVP. As a basketball fan you don’t get to hear the players backgrounds. This book did that. Thank you B Grant!

Perseverance, Career, relationships & life

I, perhaps misread the description and had different expectations. I expected this book to discuss the author’s experience with Parkinson’s. Disease. However, the first 9 chapters, PD was merely a mention, perhaps due to denial. There is a concentration on perseverance through each phase of his life and chapter. Perseverance in life with experiences in his interpersonal relationships, career, marriage, family, friendships, backstories/behind-the-scene conversations with other NBA players, addiction and recovery. The last chapters detail the author’s experiences with Parkinson’s Disease.

Touching. Candid. Gripping

Even though the profanity contained was somewhat minimal I think the book was written well enough to deem any foul language unnecessary. Also the reader mispronounced the word Rastafari

A message I so needed to hear

I don’t know if I can put into words how much this book spoke to me. Brian’s candid authentic honesty took courage. Brian’s humbling nature is shown throughout his story. I know it wasn’t easy opening up about his real life personal and public struggles. It is very rare that a man with his status and fame opens up about infidelity. We need more men like Brian who talk about the lasting affects infidelity can have on loved ones and their children. I admire and have hella respect for Brian about having the conversation with his kids as well about infidelity. This story was one of hope and perseverance. This book is a combination of great loss yet great love and hope. I could go on and on about this book. The love and devotion for his children no matter what was going on in Brian’s life is also beautiful. God is definitely speaking through Brian and his beautiful story. Thank you again. 🙏🏼❤️

I’m still in your corner!

As a native Oregonian and West Linn resident the only season tickets I had for the Blazers were from 1997-2000 when you played for them. I miss those good times.

Thank you for taking us inside your private world. I appreciated your honesty.

Your a lucky man to be surrounded and loved by your children.
