Publisher's Summary

Captain Tag Brewer saved the Mechanics. He even handed them the key to victory against the Collectors. But now the Mechanics want his blood.

They aren’t the only ones.

When Tag returns to the SRE, he isn’t given a hero’s welcome. He is treated like a criminal. They suspect him of working for the Collectors. He finds himself mired in a plot that threatens to tear humanity apart. His only hope of quelling their suspicions and unifying the SRE is to follow a mysterious lead to an SRE colony planet where rebellion seems all but inevitable.

But someone else has plans for this world and for Tag....

Excellent ending!

Once again, author Melchiorri blends science and action into a compelling, fast paced read. Well done! I'm looking forward to whatever comes next from your brilliant, imaginative mind.

THIS AUTHOR WOULD MAKE A BETTER WALMART EMPLOYEE THAN A WRITER!!!

This wanna be author is trying like heck to be an OVER ACHIEVER! His bumbling writing has created a story of ignorance and extreme ridiculousness. His attempts at political intrigue and military mystery is sickening and makes me embarrassed to say i have listened to this trash. If it was a paper book I would light it afire! That is how horribly written this piece of garbage truly is. Dont waste your time or money on this, even if you have more money than you can spend! A better use of your money would be to purchase toilet paper than spent on this book! Ive read better stories on the walls of public restrooms!

An story killed by stupidity

The book series had an interesting premise but it is fatally hampered by the "Hero" being an incompetent idiot. All around him his crew and innocent civilians die or nearly die because he is an idiot playing soldier, who no military would ever put in charge of a mission to save anyone. I was able, with difficulty, to ignore his stupidity in the earlier books but I just can't do it any more. A women who has committed unspeakable crimes holds a women and others hostage and are about to kidnap them, again, and take them to their masters to be lab rats. He has this women dead to rights but won't put her down because she slept with him one time and now he must save her from herself so she can be his girlfriend. It is pathetic.

A+++++

Love this series and have been re-listening to the whole thing from the beginning in anticipation of the release of Dark Abyss next month. There is so much action and adventure in this book, plenty of science and logic too, all around a small crew of people trying to do the right thing in the middle of chaos. All the characters are so well done that you can’t help but root for them. This particular chapter bring us new insights into the link we have to post-humans. We meet new people and see once again that while Tag and crew are unraveling this mystery everyone else still remains in the dark, however it’s nice to start seeing all the pieces starting to fall into place. To beat the enemy it’s gonna take everyone and everything they have.

Tag, you're it!

Man, let me tell you, I've been waiting for this sequel in audiobook format for EXACTLY two years since I listened to Shattered Dawn. I am so glad that Tony was finally able to get his publisher to put this and book five out in audio. To quote Raktor, it was a very kind thing.

This was well worth the wait as we follow along with Tag, Corrin (I know I spelled that wrong), Sophia, and Alpha in their journey with the Mechanics. This, just like every other book in the series, was a great listen and I love the imagination, descriptions, and science that went into a lot of the story. As a doctoral student, I couldn't help but laugh when I got to the part with the team drinking Mechanic booze and talking about topics that sounded like scholarly research paper ideas.

This was an easy 5/5, especially with the narration of Bradford Hastings.

Great continuation of the series

I really like this series, but why didn’t Tag shoot first? My guess is the author didn’t know how to complete the scene and went for what was easiest, but dang, am I disappointed Tag didn’t shoot first.

great series

Got the first 3 books at an offer price and managed to get the fifth and final book in the series as part of my audible membership but gladly paid for this the fourth installment.
The narrator is excellent and does a great job of using different voices for the characters
