Publisher's summary

Unstable powers, a uncertain future, and one overwhelmed girl.

Chaos doesn't even begin to explain my life. Now that the first two artifacts are a part of me the third haunts my dreams. It calls to me, overwhelming my senses. Between that, the council, the demon, and everything else, I did the only thing that I could think of, I took off. Hopefully, Charlie can forgive me for leaving without a word.

Disappearing seemed like my best option, until the demon found me, forcing my hand. Needing to save Becca and find the third artifact before him, I'm left with no other choice but to return and finish what I started.

To find the artifact in hell, I must turn to the council for assistance which reveals even more corrupted their true motives are. Now, I have to determine the right course for not just myself, but the world too.

Excellent Storyline

The story was excellent and continued from book 2. The narrator I have noticed has started to sound robotic. I enjoy Jen's writing.

The search for the artifacts continues...

The second book was my favorite and I had high hopes for this one. The story starts slow and it did take me awhile for it to capture my attention. There was more character development on the last one and I expected that to continue. Christina’s actions didn’t make sense to me at times and the story started focusing on her powers mainly.

Narration was ok.

I felt sorry for poor Charlie that seems to always be left behind and out of the loop. I don’t understand why she thinks so badly of the council, yet trusts them way too much. It seems like she cannot trust anyone. Old characters show up and we never really understand their angle in the story.

There seems to be more action but I was surprised how nobody seems to care about getting prepared for such big missions. It’s more like let’s wing it with no preparation or plan to succeed.

I think more character development and world-building would have made a world of difference. The story did not flow as smoothly as it could have been.

Looking forward to book 4.

Intense

This 3rd book was intense and exciting as Christina searches for the 3rd element. I almost liked this book best and am looking forward to the next.

GREAT READ!

I really enjoyed it! This book has action, drama, suspense and romance. The narration was great and kept me entertained! The author did a great job with the character builds and plot! I can't wait to read the next book! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

She learns martial arts quickly, so that's handy

So apparently you can kill demons pretty straightforwardly with a plain-old sword. Christina is also apparently a savant at martial arts. And she can't seem to help mistreating her boyfriend over and over. They swear fealty, she promises she'll never run off without him again, and then does it almost immediately without even a single thought of him. Oof. Otherwise, this entry in the series feels about the same as the previous two to me -- just okay.

I received this as a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
