Publisher's summary

You're never too old to make a bad decision.

After 20 winters on the road, Tanyth Fairport makes one last pilgrimage in her quest to learn all she can about the herbs and medicinal plants of Korlay before settling down to write her magnum opus. Her journey is interrupted when she decides to help a small village and learns that much of what she knows of the world may not be quite as it seems.

Nathan Lowell blends Wiccan tradition and shamanistic lore into a fantasy quest for a new - if unlikely - heroine. She learns that the familiar sometimes hides the fantastic and that, even when you think you’ve made your decisions, life doesn’t always agree.

Pretty good

Not your rip, roaring adventure, but just quiet storytelling. Good characters with real problems. A touch of magic or something is added, but it fits with the story.

Good story - will read next one

Good story but perhaps too much “daily life details” for everyone. Works well as an audiobook.

A favorite!!

I’ve loved this story since it was first published. This is a wonderful version by a favorite narrator.

What a wonderful book!!!

This was a wonderfully written tale; just my cup of tea (smile). No explosions, no explicit sex, just a beautiful story that gently carried me away for a bit. I recommend it to anyone who cares about plot.

Well done but a bit slow

I enjoyed a story about a middle-aged woman for a change. This was a nice change from the endless drama and stress that so many authors seem to think is necessary. But it’s a bit too far on the other end.

there is a issue with chapter 10

I loved the book and the entire series but chapter 10 is out of sequence so the chapters go 9, 11, 10 it's my only complaint about the book.

Slow Start, Great Finish

My other title was going to be "Ih had coffee, Tanneth as tea.

Our protagonist is so off the mainstream That it took me a while to adjust to the reality of her situation. Nathan Lowell's gentle development of characters and storyline drew me deeper and deeper into the story.

He also handled the magical elements so well, that anyone who would be put off by reading a story that had shamanism as a part of the of the main plot line would still be intrigued.

I'm really picky about narrators. This one did a marvelous job. I have found that reducing the listening speed to 90% enhances the listening experience, and this was no exception.

And like all good stories, you don't want it to be over. So of course I've already purchased the the sequel! I can't wait to see what happens next.
