Publisher's Summary

Award-winning author R. L. Weeks brings you Raven's Sight - a young adult Victorian paranormal mystery. Book one can be listened to as a standalone and as part of the series.

Raven looks out over the small, industrial town of Cogsworth and imagines a life beyond the confines of her grandmother's mansion.

However, Raven holds a dark secret that prevents her from leaving. One which comes to light after her father's untimely death. Now an orphan, Raven must do her best to hide her gifts of sight if she's to survive the cruel Victorian society she lives in.

However, when a ghost of a child comes to her for help, Raven finds herself in the gas-lit streets of London, on the trail of a female serial killer. As she tries to solve the string of murders, she realizes that the murders are almost identical to those from a case left unsolved years before she was born.

In a race against time, Raven is thrown into a world she doesn't know. With her crush, Tom, now a ghost, her friend, Emmett, now a suspect, and an uncle who runs illicit groups and hates women, Raven will have to unravel the mysteries quickly before she becomes the next victim.

Well written and creative

I really enjoyed listening to this book, the narrator created great character voices and the pacing and tone worked well.

The story is well written, the mystery is clever and there's a great twist that I did not see coming. The characters are carefully crafted and realistic and the settings are described in a way that made them easy to picture. I liked the mix of mystery and romance.

The book could probably be read as a standalone but I really want to know what's going to happen in the next book.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Do you believe in the sight

This is a great story . R.L Weeks takes a story and gives it life. She writes many layers into the book . The author takes a subject and makes the listener hooked on the story .
Heroine is Raven. Raven is gifted but she has to keep it hidden . She lives in a small English town during the Victorian Age .
Raven secret is revealed when her father passes . You ask what her secret is?

Years later while in London she notices that there are murders happening. Not only that she sees that there might be a serial killer involved .
Does her gift , her sight lead her to the right path

The narrator Jodie was great. Her voice is strong , clear and she narrated the part great

VERY INTRIGUING VICTORIAN PARANORMAL STORY..

Great book! Really enjoyed it. Lots of twists, turns, intrigue, mystery and even romance. I thought it was very well-crafted and I thought the narrator was great. Raven must carefully guard her gift if she is to make it through. I really enjoyed listening to it, and look forward to future books in the series. All in all a great book! Would definitely recommend it :)

Sixth Sense Victorian Mystery

No spoilers - This one sounded interesting and had my curiosity peeked but it was a bit different from what I had expected. Without giving the story away I felt it was creative and kept me guessing but on the whole the mood of the whole book was a bit too sad without much comic relief or mood lifter. My biggest problem with it was that it just needed a good script edit... "Says" gets way over used and then the accent of the narrator on that particular word drove me a bit crazy. I did enjoy the narrator on the whole and liked the accent and her acting. If you are a mystery and paranormal fan then you will probably find this one entertaining but he mindful that this probably a older teen/young adult level read. There are some heavier topics and it's graphic enough in the description of the deaths I wouldn't let my younger teens listen to it.

Victorian Paranormal Mystery

This was my first R.L. Weeks's book. This is a YA Victorian Paranormal Mystery. This is the first book in the Raven's Shadows Series. This story is well written and well developped, filled with twists and turns and mysteries. Raven has a gift, she can see the spirits, and she has to hide it if she wants to survive. The secondary characters, Tom and Emmett, are also the great characters. The surprising ending is an opening to another book. Jodie Hollie-Anne has a sweet and beautiful voice. I love her accent! Awesome victorian paranormal!

I usually am not a huge fan of historical type stories but the reviews were excellent so I thought I’d try. I was not disappointed! Raven is a young Victorian girl who is an orphan and raised by her grandmother. Her grandmother keeps her hidden away out of fear because Raven claimed to see the ghost of her dead father and memories of his childhood when she touched certain items. Raven grows up locked in the house but sneaks out from time to time. One day she sneaks out and finds a little girl, a dead girl. This sets up a series of events leading to the discover of a serial killer. Aided by her ghost friend Tom and a mysterious new friend Emmett they try to discover the truth. An excellent story read by a flawless narrator! I loved it and can’t wait for the next book! I received a free review copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Wonderful twist

The publisher’s summary is good. This is a stand alone novel. Raven is a great character. If you let the story flow without trying to solve it before the end, there is an unsuspected twist to this story that really make it stand out. It’s a wonderful mystery.

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I look forward to listening to more in this series.

I believe this is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator (she narrates under another name as well) and I would listen to another. I enjoyed her rendition and character voices.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.
