Publisher's summary

Something doesn't want the inhabitants of an isolated mountain town to leave.

When local hermit Maul Thorndean disappears, Sheriff Joe Moorefield finds his cabin in a bewildering state. All of the surrounding trees have turned white and brittle and are leaning towards the cabin. There is blood on the floor but no sign of Maul.

The dying of the trees spreads and soon the townspeople are encircled by ash grey trees with limbs that wont allow them to leave. That's when the people begin to disappear.

As Sheriff Joe Moorefield tries to figure out what is going on, while at the same time trying to keep his people sane, it becomes increasingly clear that the trees are the least of his worries.

supernatural horror at its best

Rampike is filed with suspense, misdirection and a cast of characters who come in two flavors, easy to like and easy to hate. I started listening with full intent to stop after my morning walk and save this book for my week’s morning walks. Well I have to admit that plan vanished after I listened to the first hour, I had to finish the story and see how this story resolved. If you lie stories that contain paranormal element as well as being thrillers with a cast of characters that are believable then give Rampike the opportunity to get its hooks into your psyche.Tom Taverna's narration is excellent!

Tightly woven & well-written supernatural thriller

Rampike: A Supernatural Thriller (Evil Rising Series), my fifth read from author European P. Douglas. A well-written, entertaining read. 6-hours 46-minutes/290-pages. Tom Taverna's narration adds to this supernatural thriller's enjoyment. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Rampike by European P DouglasTom Taverna

What did I just read? This audio book almost knocked my socks off. A man noticed his trees are all turning white. Although not much for friending his neighbors, he does check with a fellow to see if his trees were turning white. He is disliked by some of the folks in town and when weird things start to happen, he is being blaimed. From there all hell seems to break loose. It is well narrated by Tom Taverna. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Classical horror is the best horror :P

Oh, I liked this one! A classical horror story, carried by the characters and with a lot of thrilling moments.

It's fast-paced and a bit gore-y but not too much, with a bunch of people fighting for their lives and your classical hero.

I loved it :D And Tom Taverna's narration was very good.

Nature vs mankind

Plain and simple, this is a story about murderous trees. In the small town of Mercy, Maul noticed white substance starting to cover the trees near his home. Maul lived like a hermit in the woods and was only friendly with the bar keeper Sally. Rampike is the what they use to describe the white look to trees after a fire or lightning strike. In this story, the Rampike spreads quickly through the forest and becomes deadly for humans.

It is an interesting concept of nature vs man. I wish the story could have given some reason why the trees were getting covered with Rampike. But, it was still a good story with several people in the town trying to fight the trees and survive. What would you do if you tried to leave town and the trees made sure you couldn't?
