Publisher's Summary

He wants to claim his mate. She wants to catch a killer. Neither saw the other one coming....

Welcome to the future. In post-apocalyptic America, humans are protected by the Stone Society, a species of Gargoyle shapeshifters. Rafael Stone is the king, and his clan has ruled the Americas for over 700 years, unbeknownst to humans.

Kaya Kane is the New Atlanta Chief of Police. At 36, not only is she the youngest but also the first female chief the city has ever had. She has dedicated her life to keeping her city safe. When all evidence in a multiple homicide points to the elusive Rafael Stone, Kaya cannot figure out if she wants to arrest him or climb his large, hard body.

Rafael's kind has never mated with a human, but just speaking to Chief Kane on the telephone nearly brings Rafe to his knees. Kaya has given up on ever having a relationship because of her career. When the two meet, sparks fly. Literally. When someone tries to kill Kaya, Rafael has no choice but to show his true nature.

Well written and well performed!

The characters are well thought out and brought to life. It held my attention through the whole story. The narrator is awesome with a nice range of voice characterizations. And such a nice deep voice!

Looking forward to more from the series.

Really enjoyable

I read this quite a while ago and enjoyed they story, having listened to it narrated by Mace Earl Finn I loved it even more.
I really do enjoy a shifter book, Goyles do not get enough wrote about them.
Mace had a deep timber voice which really does lend itself to this genre of story.
Listen to a sample you won’t be disappointed.

A very good start to hopefully a WONDERFUL series

Loved the characters, sexy strong female and male leads. The story line was fast paced, listened to it all in one day. Can't wait for the next, hopefully in audiobook. Mace, the narrator was fantastic. Never heard him before, but his voice was so deep and sexy. Best male narrator ever, and I put him at the very top. No one, in my opinion, even comes close to his voice. He did an excellent job with this audiobook. Loved it!!!

Entranced by this voice

I really liked this narrators voice. I could listen to him for hours and hours!
This is the first book I have read from this author and I loved it! I fell in love with each of the characters portrayed. They all had strong personalities and I look forward to reading about each of them.
This book is about Police Chief Kaya and the king of the gargoyles in the New Atlanta area. There is an over arching plot about an evil military man who creates clone-like beings that once transformed into monsters can't change back to human. These beings are called the "unholy".
This book kept me enthralled through every page.

PNR romance

This was a new author and narrator to me. I enjoyed both the story and the narrator. Full blood shifters, 1/2 blood shifters, humans, and cloned abomination army all mixed together to make this a mixture of murder mystery and steamy romance.

A lot of talking and not much action

The male narrator bores me. His voice can put you to sleep.

The story had potential but was ruined by no action and making one of the Alpha hero's gay.

I do not listen to same sex books or BDSM so when I filter for my romance books I expect these to be left out. There was way to much focus on one being gay. It's like the author was trying to focus on that and not the story of the book.

I won't continue with the series because it's to boring.
