Publisher's summary

The first biography of the most popular anchor in cable news.

Rachel Maddow has beaten the odds in a way that's novel in today's America: She uses her brain.

In a world of banal and opinionated soundbites, she regularly crushes Sean Hannity's ratings thanks to her deeply researched reports. And in our highly polarized world, Maddow amiably engages the staunchest conservatives, while never hesitating to expose their light-on-facts defenses.

As a result, she's become the top anchor for MSNBC and a beloved representative for all that progressive America holds dear. The news that Maddow was the first publicly-out lesbian to anchor a prime-time TV news show seemed almost anticlimactic to her millions of viewers, who will be surprised and intrigued by little-known details of her life, as written by New York Times best-selling biographer Lisa Rogak.

Absolute Pablum.

Rachel Maddow is one of the most refreshing and intriguing commentator on TV, so I really looked forward to reading her biography. If only this book had a third of the story telling richness of one of Maddow’s shows, I might have actually enjoyed it. Instead, I feel really let down.

If you like Rachel you will love this book

It is a fascinating story about how Rachel has come to be where she is today.
The Rachel you see on t.v. is not the real Rachel.
You do learn how she has become so successful on t.v. when she started in radio and did not wish to have to be seen.
I would love to read an autobiography written by Rachel herself. I think we would get much more insight into who Rachel is and I would like to encourage Rachel to write her own book.
I like Rachel and admire her. It was a good listen into her up and comings yet I hold out for her story being written by her.

Pretty superficial

Covers Rachel’s life but is rather superficial. Could have used more depth to really flesh out the story.

Terrific Book, Love Rachel’s Story

Rachel Maddow is very best reporter, news analyst on TV today. This book tells the story of her journey to earning and cementing her stellar reputation. A must read for anyone who appreciates her role in today’s news gathering and bringing that to the TV News public. The narrator does an excellent job.

"Rachel Maddow: A Biography" insightful w/ depth.

This book explores the depth of Rachel Maddow's passion and intensity for what she does so well. Of course, this book explains that Ms. Maddow is quite intelligent, but goes further to explain her path to super stardom. further, this biography navigates how she has developed and where her core values came from, how they affected her life choices and career ambitions... If you enjoy "The Rachel Maddow Show", you will enjoy this in-depth look at her life and career. you will come to understand how she's simultaneously both singularly focused and open-minded! Too much time was taken explaining show development process. There could have been more stories surrounding her time in the AIDS rights movement and her time in England. This would have made the story much more rich. This biography is still worthwhile.

A great read!

I have been a big Rachel Maddow fan since 2008. I was hoping I'd maybe get a little more understanding about why Rachel only comes on one night a week. I get it now. I blame Trump for her burnout. I remember several nights she would open the show with..."We had a complete show ready to go but we had to ditch it because of the current situation with Trump"... she looked so completely warn out. I understand now how deep her work ran in her soul. I think the Rachel of today is better for stepping back and enjoying the life she has earned.
