Protecting Piper is the fourth book in the Waverly Wildcats series. This is a sports romance with a small town feel. Piper is a gorgeous curvy woman. She did not have a good childhood. She was raised by a single mom that was in and out of horrible relationships. Her mother has never been loving or supportive of Piper. Brady is such a sweet man. He may look like a grizzly but he is a true cinnamon roll sweetheart. This is his last year to play football. He plans on going back to his family farm. Piper had an anti-dating rule due to her mother’s influence. Piper is a cam girl. It is the only way she was able to pay for her college tuition and expenses. Brady has to put himself in a pretty embarrassing and vulnerable situation just for her to agree to a date. This series is one of the funniest and enjoyable series I’ve read in a while.

Kelsey Navarro Foster and Sean Masters did a fabulous job narrating this book.

But Brady is more than wholesome farm boy. He goes all out when he wants something, and he set his sights on Piper. What’s a few dance classes, when the girl of your dreams hangs in the balance?😂 Secrets have a way of getting out, and can affect relationships and life plans.

I feel like this book was directed right at my WV girl heart!!🥰 Brady Vaughn won me over so hard with his golden retriever vibes, heart of gold, love of family and the land, his open-mindedness, and his protective nature.😍 His pursuit of her made me laugh… those class scenes!🤣 My heart went out to Piper over her background, but I was proud of the way she embraced her power emotionally and accepted her beauty. Life as a curvy girl can be a difficult at times. I loved them together, and the way they were able to explore their spicy chemistry together! This story also comes with some outside drama that definitely adds to the angst, and had me stressing. Between Brady’s family and his teammates, you’ll get a good dose of that found family vibe, and it’s always fun to see the characters from the previous books! I can’t wait to see which player is the next to fall!

The recently released audio version is narrated by Sean Masters and Kelsey Navarro Foster, who did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life! Honestly, Sean Masters could read the dictionary and I would enjoy it, but he added another dimension to Brady especially. I just love the way narrators capture the nuances of the characters!

Protecting Piper is book 4 in a series where all 4 books are taking place at the same time. That probably has something to do with the fact these books feel a little recycled, so I recommend choosing which books stand out most and reading them first. I had a lot of fun at the start of the series, but ending it felt more like a chore. That, and the fact that book 1 & 2 were so good that books 3 & 4 are falling short for me.

With that being said, this wasn’t a bad book. Brady was absolutely perfect. Jennifer’s writing is always on point and I love that she’s always so inclusive while adding in humor and banter. The fmcs general attitude was starting to negatively impact the book though, causing me to feel disconnected from early on. And while I loved Brady, it was very insta love for what felt like nothing. Needless to say, there were a few moments that had me cringing.

Sean Masters & Kelsey Navarro Foster were amazing narrators and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them! All the narrators for this series have been spot 👏🏼 on 👏🏼

Also, random side note. I love when my home state (West Virginia) is mentioned in books. 💙💛

this is book 4 in the Waverly series, and I think it has been my favorite one of all. I love that Piper is independent and doesn't let the fact that she doesn't have a supportive family stop her, but she uses that to push herself. I guess the thing i didn't like was that she allowed herself to be blackmailed

Brady was also very likeable and accepting. loved him

Protecting Piper was an amazing contemporary sports romance, and the audio was just as good. I loved how the narrators brought the characters to life. This is the first time heard Kelsey Navarro Foster, and let me tell you I absolutely loved her voice. I love her dialect and how her words sounded when narrating Piper. Sean Masters did an amazing job bringing Brady to life. His voice was gruff and deep. I thought the storyline was original and page-turning. This book is part of the Waverly Wildcats series and can be read as a standalone, but I recommend diving in and devouring these books. They are well written and kept me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next with the characters. This book did not disappoint. The characters were complex and had an undeniable chemistry. I enjoyed the drama, some juicy secrets, and the mild spice were spot on. I am so excited to read and listen to what comes next in this series.

Piper is independent and determined. I loved her body positivity and attitude. She was fun, and Kelsey did an amazing job bringing her to life. Brady was the golden retriever football star. He was focused, and I loved his determination in all the things he did on and off the field. This book and audio are amazing, and I loved following along while listening to this book.
