Five Stars

Protecting His Omega by Giovanna Reaves
Narrated by John Solo
Five Stars
This is the first book I have listen to by Giovanna Reaves, and I’m looking forward to listening to many more. Shifter books are not my normal genre, but I loved the great plot lines and character descriptions. I will definitely be listening to more of this series. This is also the first time I have listened to a book narrated by John Solo. He has a very sexy voice that is easy to listen to. This was a great five star book for me!

Great story, great audiobook

I'm a audiobook newbie and I admit I wasn't too sure I was going to like them. It took a bit to get used to having the story read to me instead of reading it myself. Once I got used to it, I started to enjoy it. I read this story before and loved it, the audiobook version made me experience the story in a different way. I listened on my way to work and wow, I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed starting my day with this audiobook. John Solo does a fabulous job with the various voices and they matched how I thought the characters should sound. The wrong voice actor could have ruined the story. I am hoping this universe continues, maybe with Hugo and one of Luc's brothers? I can hope! Giovanna and John sure got this newbie wanting more audiobooks!

Sweet story with a twist

I haven't read or listened to books by this author before but will be looking up more to read. I really enjoy listening to John Solo and that's what first caught my eye about this audiobook.

I thought this was a good story about a non-typical omega raising his daughter in a high-profile environment. When his daughter is threatened, I was able to figure out pretty quickly who was doing it but how it came about was a twist I wasn't expecting, nor was it something found in other books.

I look forward to other books by Giovanna and hope they are as easy to listen to as this one.

Great Romance

I love this story! Phoenix and Lucius are perfection together. Although they realize they are mates as soon as Lucius shows up to be Phoenix's bodyguard, I love how they take their time to get to know each other and let their relationship develop. There's lots of action and twists to the story to keep you hooked right up until the end when you finally see who the real bad guy is. It truly was a total surprise and big twist at the end! The narrator was spectacular with all of the characters and did a great job bringing the story to life.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A sweet romance with a who is the bad guy twist

I enjoyed this book very much and will definitely listen to other books by her in the future. I can usually guess the endings but this had twists I was not expecting.

Great contemporary mpreg, loved John Solo

I was very pleasantly surprised with this story! I loved the characters, I loved the story, the romance, and the pace of things.

Phoenix is an omega who had a horrible falling out with his family at a young age. Since then, he has built a name for himself with his company, he is raising his daughter as a single parent from his first mating, and is basically living life for his daughter, Jasmine, at the start of this story. He starts receiving threatening letters, and when they start to include Jasmine, he knows that he has to do something.

Lucius is an alpha, ex-military, and runs his own private security company. He gets a call asking to please help Phoenix out, and when they first meet - BOOM - they realize they are mates. I love that they took their time with the mating, they didn't just jump into bed a scene later. Lucius took his time to woo Phoenix, to get to know each other, and for Jasmine to be comfortable.

I loved these two - Phoenix is a strong, independent omega, which I loved. And Lucius is patient, caring, gives forehead kisses, and is just perfect for Phoenix, who deserves a mating with love this time around. When the two finally do cement their bond, it's sexy, sweet, and perfect.

I don't want to give away any spoilers as far as the whole stalking storyline goes, but I was definitely surprised. It seemed a little bit...over the top? But it both was who I thought it was - and not. There was a bit of telling, rather than showing, at the beginning of the story as far as giving a ton of exposition and backstory. Other than that, I really enjoyed this story of Lucius and Phoenix.

Also, great narrating from John Solo! His voices were perfect for these two and it was a fun listen!

I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is really good!

This is my first non-shifter, mpreg stories and a good one to get started with!
Phoenix was kicked out of his home at 16 because he was an omega and gay. After being taken in by Maxwell, a rich businessman (father/son relationship), Phoenix thrives and eventually takes over Maxwell’s business when he dies. Phoenix was mated once and has a little girl, Jasmine from the relationship.
Not everyone at Phoenix’s company is happy that he is the new owner, so when he starts receiving threatening letters Phoenix is forced to contact a private security company which is how he meets Lucius, his mate.
What I liked about the story is that Phoenix is not a typical omega – yes, he knows he will submit to his alpha’s will – but he has a backbone and wouldn’t give in to the natural instinct to rollover for his alpha mate. Lucius is a patient alpha, who wants to care for his omega. There is a lot of sexual tension between the 2 men before they finally get together – mid book- but it’s worth the wait! Both men were a delight to read and Jasmine was realistically cute.
There is a surprise twist towards the end that also adds to the story (quite unique).

John Solo does a really good job with the characters :) It was a pleasure to listen to him bring the story to life. He made Lucius sound like a strong, alpha male and Phoenix sound like a strong (with a hint of vulnerability), doting father.
I recommend this audio unreservedly, especially to those on the fence about mpreg!
I received a copy from the author, but the review is my own opinion.
