Publisher's Summary
Carrigans of Circle C, book one: Sage Carrigan never meant to be the other woman. Unfortunately bronco rider Dawson O'Dell neglected to mention he was married the night he invited her to his bed after they'd both placed first in their rodeo events. When his wife walked in on them, Sage was deeply hurt and humiliated. After an accident in the ring the next day, Sage decides she's quitting the rodeo--and cowboys--to become a chocolatier in her hometown ranching community, Marietta, Montana. She's doing just fine, but then Dawson shows up--five years later, with a little girl in tow. He's there for the Copper Mountain Rodeo, hoping to win big. But he's also got plans of settling down with his daughter and buying a house--the very same one about which Sage has been dreaming. He says he's there for her, and he's making lots of promises. But can he keep them?
If you love clean romance, Montana, cowboys, small-town settings, and stories with family values, you will enjoy the Carrigans of the Circle.

Too much info in too short a book
Audible Escape. 2 stars. Narration 4 stars. I know this was a novella so it was short. But the problem was that the author spent so much time world building and introducing secondary and tertiary characters ~ that the MCs were left with very little time. Dawson & Sage’s actual current relationship was probably less than an hour of the book. Sadly, I don’t even think Dawson actually redeemed himself ~ he was *still* married, even if in the process of divorce when he approached Sage again.
Unfortunately there are sooooooo many additional characters and storylines that nothing really peaks my interest in wanting to continue.
FYI, but not impacting my rating: I read/listen to romance across the spectrum of clean to erotica. I’m not exactly sure that if I were specifically looking for “clean romance with family values” I would be impressed by this. Several affairs are mentioned, at least one sister is an alcoholic, dad is emotionally abusive, etc. The sex scene where Dawson’s wife walks in on them is fairly graphically described. I guess it’s “clean” because the MC’s reunion “sex” was fade-to-black. 🤷♀️

Promises Me Cowboy...a Book?
This storyline is wonderful. Much improvement is needed in the Arthur’s work as in needing more of the main characters background since it seems to have a time change between when the main male Character and the main female Character meet and then pick up where they left off. However the Narrator (a different but more experienced narrator needed) sounds robotic and as if on a stage OR in front of a classroom reciting a Book, and parts of the story/Book need much improvement in all areas, to be even considered as a Book.
Not sure how this got published or placed here in Audible. I will be more selective in my choices from now on so as to nog get the same Narrator again or the same Author as before.

Ok book and terrible narration..
I love second chance stories but up until about 25% I thought this was a really bad story. THEN I realized it wasn’t the story but the narrator. I turned off the audio and enjoyed the rest of the book by just reading it.
This was about Dawson and Sage who fell in love five years before when they were both part of the rodeo. At the end of having sex and being threatened with a shotgun by Dawson’s wife Sage left and that was the end of that. Or so Sage thought. Dawson shows up in Marietta, Montana where Sage now owns a chocolate store, but she refuses to forgive him, but he keeps trying to explain what was happening with his wife.
Eventually, she did forgive him but it was sudden! Once she saw is divorce papers she was over being mad at him. I mean, sudden like in five minutes time.
There was no sex or swearing in this story.
As to the narration: It was terrible. The men sounded like women and all Emily Cauldwell did was read the book. No emotions, no nothing. I would not listen to her again.

Justified infidelity is not clean romance!!!
HATED IT! Family values? What a laugh!!! The Carrigans are the farthest from family values there can be. At least call it for what it is... cheating swept under the rug. I Couldn't stand this story. I disliked the plot so it might be why I couldn't enjoy the book. ☆☆Spoilers below☆☆
Once a cheater always a cheater. I have NO idea how Sage could ever forgive Dawson... he never "proved" himself. Divorces are so easy to get when there is no property involved and yet even after he humiliates this woman he supposedly loved he STILL doesn'tget a divorce for FIVE YEARS. B.S.!! He is just a taker. He made all the decisions and lime a pathetic rag doll she complied.
Dawson is a major jerk, and Sage is a fool, like mother like daughter. I was so angry throughout the whole book and kept hoping something would materialize from the backstory so I would relax and enjoy it but gaud no! THEN at the end he demands a quickie as their 1st time in 5 years... how romantic <barf>!
Also, there is a major mistake that contradicts cousin Eliza's, book 4, life before Marrietta.
Bottom Line: Justified infidelity is still disgusting betrayal to everyone involved.

Ending too sudden
End was too sudden. That's not what is meant by "leave them wanting more", I felt like there was part of the story left missing.
