Publisher's summary

After a career working with rare books at the Boston Public Library, Addie Greyborne is back in her seaside New England hometown - where unfortunately, murder is not so rare....

Gossip columnists love a bold-faced name - but "Miss Newsy" at Greyborne Harbor's local paper seems to specialize in bald-faced lies. She's pointed a finger of suspicion at Addie after librarian June Winslow never makes it home from a book club meeting. And when June's found at the bottom of a steep flight of stairs, Addie's not only dealing with a busybody, but a dead body.

It's a good thing the guy Addie's dating is the police chief. But both the case and her love life get more complicated when a lanky blonde reporter from Los Angeles shows up. She's trying her hardest to drive a wedge between the couple...as if Addie doesn't have enough problems dealing with angry townspeople. Despite all the rumors, Addie doesn't know a thing about the murder - but she plans to find out. And the key may lie in a book about pirate legends that June published. Now she just has to hunt down the clues before she becomes a buried treasure herself....

Villain not believable, romance becoming frustrating

Performance is great. Karen White does an amazing job. I love the general idea of the stories but (without giving away the ending) the villain in this one isn’t believable. Also, the whole romance thing is totally frustrating. You’re adults. You either like each other or you don’t. Stop playing games, start communicating. I rolled my eyes so much I almost gave myself a headache.

Unimpressed

The core mystery is worth following but there is too much drama and preoccupation with men and yet another wacky “I love Lucy” type sleuth who stumbles through discovery.

Growing on me quickly!

I liked the first book in this series, but didn't really like the main character, Addison. She is slowly growing on me. The storyline and suspense was much better this time around, too!

Can't wait to get started on the next book!!

Hard to finish

Addie is a whiner and it was very hard to finish this book. Will not be listening to another one.

Good Story

I do agree with another reader about Addie and Mark. They need to quit playing cat & mouse and move forward with their relationship.! Overall, great book and will continue reading the series.

Great story

But, a different narrator would be better. Kind of a sing song reading . A little hard to tell the different characters.

Pretty good

This is a pretty good book. The plot is interesting but Addy is an idiot. She makes bad decisions Also I was disappointed in how the Lacy storyline was dropped without resolution. She just left town without consequence. Overall it's a good book so I will get the next one. Karen White as always does a good job as narrator.

The great story--just keeps coming Bk2

Book one was such and good start to a mystery series---Book 2 has proved that. I so enjoyed the return of great characters and a new murder mystery (A real who done it?).

Lauren Elliott's story and Karen White's narration are an amazing match.

You will not be disappointed with this series--I am hooked now and will be back for book 3

Sophmoric

Did not read the first in the series but 5 stars for the story being able to stand alone. 2.5 stars for everything else. Lauged out loud when the book started with a chalk-outline murder. Really! This only happens in movies. Characters are simple and childish. I actually checked to see if this was a YA series. The relationship between Addiend Mark is just silly - like a high school situation. Both need to grow up or move along. Frankly I was rooting for the doctor not man-child Mark. Best friend is real definition of a "fair weather friend". Narrator probably the worst ever and I cringed at so many words, especially the pronouncement of Aunt (should be Ant not Awnt unless you are living below the mason-dixon line - and yes I did confirm this to be true). I was looking for a light cozy mystery and this was not it for me. Would not recommend or continue with series.
