Oleg is doomed to toil away in the recesses of Mirror World's mines. His goal is to raise enough money for a heart transplant for his dying six-year-old daughter. The clock is ticking. Will he make it?

The speaker

Kyle McCarley makes every character sound sassy and especially when he says "_____ Said." Its kinda funny at times but it tends to pull you out of the emersion sometimes.

Interesting take on this genre

I find that I quite enjoy the gamer genre. And I have read other Russian translations (Rus) in this line. I liked the unique take on the story. It was a little hard fetched for my side of the world but I still could dispel my unbelief enough to enjoy it. I have to say though that the “my girls” thing was a bit over the top. But I suspect that is a translation thing. I found the same kind of forced comments in the other translated series I read. It had a bit of an abrupt ending for sure. I’ll keep an eye out for the next book. Not one I’m jumping to buy but wouldn’t mind reading the rest for the right price.

Hate to say it, bad writing

I’ve listened to a lot of LITRPG books. This one nestled into “decent” until a group of character were introduced into the story. I heard the phrase “x said” or “x says” about 15 times in 5 minutes. Couldn’t continue

Forgettable

Maybe it's because I was spoiled by Ready Player One and Awaken Online, but this was very forgettable. The story progressed too slowly for my liking and offered up far too few interesting moments.

diamond in the rough

surprisingly this is a diamond in a rough. the story is amazing on all accounts the narration is beautiful and now it's on to book two I'm hooked

Good but slow

Interesting world (some holes but easy to look over) and fun to follow.

I had two issues. First, at times it was so slow they almost lost me. Second, the MC made some weird decisions and acted in confusing ways.

Oh well it was still fun.

Amazing

I’m already on book four of the series I definitely recommend them all. The all amazing and the story just keeps getting better.

Good Concept, Translation needs some work

What did you love best about Project Daily Grind?

The story was a nice change for the genre. Standard trope of a user stuck mining, but removing any ability for him to gain combat skills leads to some interesting story development.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When he woke up in the private clinic realizing that his boss was basically trying to kidnap him.

Translation from russian is good, but taking a few hours to go through it and fix the colloquialisms and minor grammar mistakes would make a WORLD of difference.
