Publisher's Summary

Wear just 33 items for three months and get back all the joy you were missing while you were worrying what to wear.

In Project 333, minimalist expert and author of Soulful Simplicity Courtney Carver takes a new approach to living simply - starting with your wardrobe. Project 333 promises that not only can you survive with just 33 items in your closet for three months, but you'll thrive just like the thousands of woman who have taken on the challenge and never looked back. Let the decluttering begin!

Ever ask yourself how many of the items in your closet you actually wear? In search of a way to pare down on her expensive shopping habit, consistent lack of satisfaction with her purchases, and ever-growing closet, Carver created Project 333. In this audiobook, she guides listeners through their closets item-by-item, sifting through all the emotional baggage associated with those oh-so strappy high-heel sandals that cost a fortune but destroy your feet every time you walk more than a few steps to that extensive collection of never-worn little black dresses, to locate the items that actually look and feel like you. As Carver reveals in this audiobook, once we finally release ourselves from the cyclical nature of consumerism and focus less on our shoes and more on our self-care, we not only look great, we feel great - and we can see a clear path to make other important changes in our lives that reach far beyond our closets. With tips, solutions, and a closet-full of inspiration, this life-changing minimalist manual shows listeners that we are so much more than what we wear and that who we are and what we have is so much more than enough.

Critic Reviews

"Courtney does an extraordinary job helping us address the physical and emotional clutter that comes with our wardrobe." (Ryan Nicodemus, The Minimalists)

"For me, the key to making life simple again started in my closet with Project 333. I’ve learned to not let the things I wear, wear me out. I’m dressing with less, and feeling twice as confident. And for that I’m truly grateful. Allow yourself the possibility of life transformation by simply starting with your wardrobe." (Angel Chernoff, New York Times best-selling author of Getting Back to Happy and 1000+ Little Things)

"I opened Project 333 thinking I could use some help scaling down my closet. Little did I know this practical guidebook would lead me to uncover a major source of stress in my life. Within days of practicing the principles in Project 333, I began seeing my life’s clutter and excess for what they really were - unnecessary burdens that have weighed me down for decades and distracted me from what really matters. With wisdom, humor, compassion, and practicality, Courtney Carver teaches us to notice what’s actually serving the life around us so we can begin making sound emotional and financial choices for ourselves and those we love. Because of Project 333, my family is discovering unlimited possibilities created by living lighter and happier with less!" (Rachel Macy Stafford, New York Times best-selling author of Hands Free Mama, Hands Free Life, and Only Love Today)

Blog Content in a Book

I love Project 333 but I feel that this book was just a way to make money off putting a small amount of blog content (which is sadly no longer accessible) into a book. I am going to give it a second listen to see if maybe I missed something that makes it special. However, PROJECT 333 IS STILL AN AMAZING CONCEPT REGARDLESS, AND THIS BOOK IS WORTH YOUR TIME IF YOU DIDNT GET TO READ THE ORIGINAL BLOG RULES.

Very Inspiring

Courtney shares lots of knowledge and insights about attachment to our things, how we live, and how to destress your life with less. I found her through the Marie Kondo teachings and feel this is a great book for those who are motivated to downsize or make life more simple. I am personally about things that spark joy, and this book will help achieve that as well as help those in search for a less cluttered life, and to find joy in the things we already have. I have been personally motivated by this and have already created a giveaway bag of things I never thought I would be able to let go of. After hearing her perspective, it truly shifted my view on certain things I owned. I will definitely be applying her travel suggestions to my lifestyle immediately, and see where project 333 shall help my life next.

A Simplicity-lover’s dream book!

Courtney Carver’s calm, steady voice perfectly leads the listener to not just embrace the idea of dressing with less, but to consider the deeper impact a simpler closet can make on your entire life. I have read 25+ books on minimalism and simplicity, and this book easily makes it into my Top 5! Highly recommend!

Very informative and enlightening

This is an amazing book, IF, you are ready to make a change in your life to living with less. There are some hard truths, but inspiring nonetheless. During the latter half of the book, I was cleaning out my closet to start my own project 333. Good read, I will be listening again very soon.

Inspiring read

This was a great book to listen to. I am inspired to go through my closet and drawers and pack away most of my clothing. I can see that with less I will have more.

A little more than a fashion challenge

I have been trying to become more minimalist for nearly 2 years so I am further along my minimalist journey than this book would have taken me (eg: I have minimised my wardrobe considerably) but I enjoy refreshers to keep me motivated.

The down side to this book was that I found it very…. “Female”. I would have preferred something more gender neutral. There was lots of talk about handbags and purses and earrings (somewhat understandably, but I think there’s more to a woman’s wardrobe than just that), and listening to your heart, and practising mindfulness, which was all fine but added to unnecessary fluff.

I would recommend this book. I have rated it highly, and in fact I will be also purchasing a hard copy to give to a friend of mine. I think even if you don’t take on the challenge, it is definitely worth taking stock of how much you consume, and your wardrobe is a good place as any to start.

Unhelpful

This book could be summarised in just one sentence. Create your own capsule wardrobe (and don't expect me to tell you how I created mine) with only 33 items and wear them for 3 months. It's not a book on how to create capsule wardrobe rather only its advocacy. Waste of time and money if you already know the basics of minimalism as I guess there will be tons of online videos about project 333 which will be lot more helpful than this book alone.

Great kick starter

I’m a huge fan of project 333 and have been a follower for a while. I would say this book is best for newcomers to the project or people who haven’t decluttered for a while.

Life changing 💔

Thank you Courtney! I did the project 333 challenge for a year and it revolutionised my life. it I look back on that year with fondness even though I was battling trauma - this challenge helped me check in with my heart instead of just buy my way through.

Interesting and insightful ideas

Loved it have listened to twice already! I like that the author narrates it herself and that the language is clear simple and consice like the advice to simplify your wardrobe and clothing choices each day by taking the time and what can be lengthy thought processes out of the equation by having a set number of pieces and accessories to work with. I like that she is not militant or bossy in the instruction of how to start to do this, just informative and sharing her own thoughts and experiences of what has worked. Both for her and for others who have taken up the challenge. Some good examples that do also work well in a listening format. I thought the lists of items may be a little boring but to me this was another interesting insight into how others have applied the principles. I'd recommend to anyone looking to cut down on time and stress in their life who also wants to think about their ethical and fashion choices as well as those looking to simplify and minimise. Even if it just helps with holiday packing and how yo think about your clothes and what works well for you as an individual this combined with the concepts of Marie Kondo have helped me to let go of a lot of excess items that were junking up spaces in my life and have allowed me to give permission to myself to keep just those clothing and household items I really love, wear and that work well with each other.

Not just about clothes

Courtney speaks with warmth and passion about what we will gain if we let go of clothes and other clutter that doesn't enrich our lives.

Great book, highly recommend

Wish I had bought this audiobook sooner, I had heard about it in the realm of minimalism before but never got round to reading it. This book is concise, and explains so much about why a small wardrobe is important, especially for reclaiming your mornings to spend time doing things like reading or stretching or eating breakfast rather than spending the mornings stressing over what to wear. I found it made me think not just about clothing but wider than that to all of my life and what I choose to buy, own and keep. Highly recommend! This is a book that I will re-listen to on a regular basis to remind me of why I am decluttering and downsizing and give me motivation time after time.

Food for thought

As someone who has been decluttering / thinking about having less stuff for a while I’ve steered clear of this because 33 seemed like too little - I love clothes! But having spent more time than I’d like to admit trying on outfits for a coffee with friends (and ending up in my same old / favourite dress) I thought it was time. Some usefully food for thought here and I’ve boxed up a bunch of stuff. Let’s see if I can even remember what’s in it in 3 months time.

loved this audiobook and would recommend. Konmarie was good, but this simplified things even more. This book is not just for your closet either.... it spills over into other areas of your life.

Loved it

A very enjoyable listen. Read by the author & she did a great job. She spoke a bit fast for my liking, but I just slowed the speed down slightly & that sorted it out. Thought provoking, interesting, & encouraged self reflection. Worth the credit. Highly recommended.
