The second volume in the Captive Prince trilogy.

With their countries on the brink of war, Damen and his new master, Prince Laurent, must exchange the intrigues of the palace for the sweeping might of the battlefield as they travel to the border to avert a lethal plot.

Forced to hide his identity, Damen finds himself increasingly drawn to the dangerous, charismatic Laurent. But as the fledgling trust between the two men deepens, the truth of secrets from both their pasts is poised to deal them the crowning death blow.

It kept the tension higher than most middle books. I liked that the erotica didn't take over the plot as much as it did in the first book. The plot became the more interesting part of the story. The characters became more rounded and thus more intriguing.

it's very captivating you keep on wondering when he's going to find out that he's actually the prince of The Other Nation and how that will affect their relationship

I'm happy with it

I am definitely failing my exam next week. Listened to books 1&2 back to back and about to pull an all-nighter to listen to book 3. No way I can do anything else until I hear how this ends....
Very captivating. Great story lines, love the twists and turns, some parts predictable and others I just didn’t expect. Many parts just had me grinning like an idiot.... I freaking love stories with some power play in the romance... yessss.
One of the best series I have read so far this year!

Yes yes yesssss

Although I think ‘Prince’s Gambit’ was sorta “meh” through a lot of it, I still liked it better than the 1st book (which I thought was completely “meh”). I just feel like nothing much really ‘happens’ in these first two books! One of the genres listed for them is Romance, but you have to get to the second half of the second book for anything remotely romantic to occur. No internal feelings of romance are even discussed! It’s actually very frustrating. I have a suspicion, though, that I’d feel differently about the series if I physically read it, instead of listening to the audiobooks, because I do not care for the narrator. It’s not really that Stephen Bel Davies does a bad job, I just feel that (1) it could be so much better, and (2) his voice just doesn’t match at all with how I feel the book should be heard. Not even talking about all the different voices—or the few that Davies actually does—but just the main narration. I feel it should’ve been read by someone with a younger-sounding, but more masculine voice. But overall, I guess it was enjoyable enough. And I’ll obviously now have to get the 3rd.

Better than the 1st Book

GREAT STORY!!! The ups and downs will have you holding your breath. I keep thinking I know what's going to happen next but nooooo. I about to put my account in the negative for book 3!!!.
