One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

In Pride and Prejudice, the Bennet sisters try to find their way in the repressive strictures of 19th-century society. Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and the experience of falling in love, and she superbly describes a world which, despite being more than two centuries old, still resonates with modern concerns.

I have been slow to get into classics, and have read and reread this book several time. This narrator was recommended by the “Audicted to Romance” editors, and I love it! Worth waiting to get into!

Superb narration, delightful story!

I listen to books on my long drives to work and I had to stop listening to this one for the drive because the narrator's voice was so relaxing to me it made me sleepy! It soon became my bedtime story! Her voices for the different characters really portrayed their personalities well and I have always loved this story.

Very nice narration

Any additional comments?

This was my first audible.com book. I chose a novel I have read umpteen times in my life. Loved it! Rosamund Pike's voice is beautiful! My only complaint is with a couple of her character renditions. I was not completely satisfied with Darcy's voice. But it's hard for a woman to read a man's part (and vice versa) so it didn't cause too much concern. My real problem, or disappointment was with Mr. Collins. He's always been one of my favorite characters. So delightfully absurd! Ms. Pike portrayed him in a breathless "asthmatic" voice which, in my opinion, completely distracted from his over-the-top pomposity. I know he's described as slightly overweight so maybe that was her reasoning, but it was a disappointment for me. The other was Maria Lucas. Where did that awful lisp come from? Fortunately her part was about as minor as they come. Wish I could have given the performance 4-3/4 stars! Thank you! I will definitely listen to this one again and again!

Almost perfect!
