Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.
More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia’s teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that’s cruelly ripped open when Claire’s husband is killed.
The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: What could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago … and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.
Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful novel from one of the finest writers working today.
Included with this gripping thriller is Karin Slaughter’s chilling short story “Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes.”

If you could sum up Pretty Girls in three words, what would they be?
Gripping, suspenseful, horrifying!!What did you like best about this story?
It was unpredictable. I liked that it had raw emotions throughout the characters and they were described so well I could visualize them. What about Kathleen Early’s performance did you like?
I liked that she used different voices for the characters. She was really good at making sure you knew who was who.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I am just glad this was fiction. The things described in here will make your skin crawl, but add to the overall effect of the book. It was well written and well read. A must listen!Any additional comments?
Just when you think you know what they were going to do, they changed it up and you were surprised all over again. One thing lead to another and I just couldn't stop listening. Even after it was over, I am still thinking about it. Like I said, I'm glad it's fiction.Great Story! Great Narrator! Must Read!

What did you love best about Pretty Girls?
The narrator was excellent. If you’ve listened to books by Karin Slaughter before, how does this one compare?
This was not my favorite.-SPOILER ALERT- I wanted more details into the background of father and son. What happened to get this started?? It just seemed so mean spirited to target one family in such a way. There was never a real explanation. And why would parents who seemed so intuitive never say what they were thinking to their daughter (Claire)....then she freaking stays married to him for 18 years!!!!!!!!! I guess if they had, we would not have a book to read.Which character – as performed by Kathleen Early – was your favorite?
I liked Nolan. He was so snarky. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The father's storyline broke my heart the most.Any additional comments?
I am torn between liking this book and hating it. It was jus non stop evil. I hoped that at the end I felt a little relief, but I didn't. Maybe in the next book in this series (there are sure to be more) Ms. Slaughter gives more background into the mind of the killer. This Book Will Stress You Out!

Would you try another book from Karin Slaughter and/or Kathleen Early?
Maybe another Karin Slaughter; this book read like a novice with a decent idea wrote it. Regarding Kathleen Early, I will make sure to skip any books she narrates. How did the narrator detract from the book?
Often overly dramatic. Her pronunciation of the letter "h" in words when it should be silent.Thumbs Down for This Narrator
