The Happy Sleeper shows parents how to avoid and undo cumbersome sleep habits, putting their babies and little kids on track to a full night's sleep. Heather Turgeon and Julie Wright teach parents that babies have an innate capacity to self-soothe, as well as the brain machinery to sleep well. So why do many families struggle at night? Most do what works today, but don't notice when it's no longer needed tomorrow, and then push harder when it becomes a hindrance the day after that.

There are two schools of thought for encouraging babies to sleep through the night: the hotly debated Ferber technique of letting the baby "cry it out", or the grin-and-bear-it solution of getting up from dusk to dawn as often as necessary. If you don't believe in letting your baby cry it out, but desperately want to sleep, there is now a third option, presented in Elizabeth Pantley's sanity-saving audiobook The No-Cry Sleep Solution.

Very funny and informative, gives parents lots of options
I chose this as my free trial audible book and I am so pleased with my choice! I have listened to a lot of sleep-related audiobooks and some of them are so drab and boring, mostly because they are not narrated by the author themselves. This author actually took the time to narrate a 8 hour long book and it makes such a difference! The tone and the humor makes those 8 hours go by fast instead of dragging on and on. And I definitely skipped some chapters that did not apply to my situation, something you can’t always do with other audiobooks so thanks Audible! There is so much good information in this book, that I think the hardest part is knowing what to apply to your specific situation. I have listened to several chapters but I am just now applying some of the strategies. Hopefully it helps!

Waaaaaay too much filler
There is A LOT of repetition and filler information/jokes/stories that waste time when you’re trying to learn how to teach your baby to sleep. Time is already tight, listening to hours of nonsense to find the 1-2hrs of useful content is extremely infuriating.

Less jokes, more information
The book has good, useful content but I can’t get past how annoying the author/narrator is. Constantly making bad jokes and using cutesy language. I guess they needed to fill up a whole book. Had to stop listening because it was just so cringey. Like all parenting books, assumes a female audience with a wink and a nod that is just insufferable.

Abuse
Should have read more reviews. This is cry it out they say it’s not but they call it something else “fuss it out” then a chapter later flat out admit it’s cry it out and if you aren’t ready to not even try. They also say leaving the house while your baby is crying is a good way to not cave in and smooth your baby. Wtf is wrong with people, just pick up and love your innocent baby.

Not for me.
This book offers some useful techniques but ultimately encourages CIO. It doesn't consider the emotional maturity of the baby. Fuss it out at 2 months is not the same as your child crying aged 2 because you tell them they have to leave the sandpit. Babies are not born rational and with an innate ability to self soothe, they learn it over time. Some statements are contradictory, very anti co sleeping due to SIDS but encourages swaddling post 2 months.
Funny and well written/read, it offers one woman's opinions on sleep. Some of which are helpful but some of which go against nhs recommendations for sleep training. Not for me.

I swear Alexis Dubief has looked into my life at the moment and written a book about it to help me! She has made me beleive that I can take these steps to help baby and me sleep a lot better and that it is ok for baby to have a dummy and for me to lose my marbles from time to time.
Definatly a must read!!
