Publisher's Summary

Kenric of Blackstone is tormented. Not entirely human, he cannot live with his past or with that he truly is. When he is needed to help in a battle that could destroy the Earth, it is Megan who gives him strength, Megan whose kisses heal him....

In a strange land and time, it became clear to Megan Potter why she'd been summoned. This wasn't about Faerie prophecies or wizardry, or even a desperate struggle to find her way home. This was a quest to save a man's heart. And for the first time ever, she felt destined to prevail, because with her help she knew this handsome prince could discover the most powerful magic of all - love.

Just enough

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this audiobook; because there is not a lot of sex it is just enough to make the book perfect. I like the charecters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

the fairy Queen she was a queen through and through at all times she let nothing get to her.

Have you listened to any of Arika Escalona’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

NO

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No a little heart beating with excitment from cheering the good guy on.

Might have been a good book, but for the narrator.

I had a feeling when I got this book that it would be bad because of the narration, and I was absolutely right. At 4% the hero Kenric finally spoke and the book said " his gruff voice vibrated with the anger he suppressed," AND he sounded just like a girl! ALMOST any book narrated before 2016 by a woman is terrible. She thought all she had to do is read the book and not even try to sound manly when the hero spoke. There's NOTHING worse than a man that sounds exactly like a woman, especially when the book describes his voice as gruff or deep or gravelly or manly or sexy. And, for Pete's sake, why do women readers give a narrator 4 or 5 stars when her men sound like women. I don't get it.

After hearing Kenric speak I couldn't even pay attention to the book because of his voice. The narration is a shame. I would have liked to have listened to the story.

A Journey Through Time

This was a very nice easy paranormal romance listen. There's time travel, a handsome hunky warrior, a damsel in distress, a fairy queen, a fairy kingdom, magic and an evil mage. It had all the elements of a classic fairy tale, and I must admit, it some respects it almost "read" like one. Not that that's a bad thing, but it's not the sort of paranormal romance to get your heart pumping. It's more a easy listening, feel good piece. Not that there wasn't action and adventure, just that you were never in much doubt of how things were going to turn out.

Megan, a modern day socialite and heiress, is engaged to the abusive and greedy Roger. She decided to break off the engagement. When she goes to their meeting place, she is hit by lightening and sent back in time to the dark ages before she has a chance to break the engagement. Here, magic is real and fairies exist. She finds a cave to hide in, but the cave is also the home of a hunky half-fae warrior known as Kenric of Blackstone. It's their destiny to join in a final battle with an evil mage who wants to rule the land of fairy and the land of man. The question is, will they win the battle, and will Megan find a way back to her own time? If she does, will she want to leave Kenric behind?

I quite enjoyed this book. There is sexual scenes, but they are brief and more to the point than some of the steamier books out there. While I don't mind, and even sometimes enjoy, explicit scenes in my romances, there's been this trend lately towards erotica in the romance genre, to the point that I'm fast forwarding through sex scenes because frankly, after a while, it all becomes a bit redundant. Not so with this book. It was rather crisp and to the point where sex was concerned, without many "blush-worthy" details. It made for a welcome change.

The narrator did a really great job, but she did mispronounce several words. It wasn't too off putting, but it kept her from rating 5 stars in my opinion. Still, her voice was pleasant, her pacing was excellent and overall it was very professionally done.

Love is the most powerful magic of all

Excellent brain fluff if you're looking for an easy, high stakes listen with a happy ending.
A little bit saccharine for my tastes, but I greatly enjoye rolling my eyes at romance protagonists nonetheless. Definitely a romantic story that happens to have a little bit of magic, rather than a magic story with a little bit of romance, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Excellent performance, but you will absolutely want to mentally slap the hero at least once for being a prat.

Time jumping romance

Your taken on an adventure from the 21st century USA, back some 300 yrs in England.. Where you meet a stranger.. I'll not say too much as it will ruin the story.. I found the descriptions really good and the story intriguing..

Background Listening

I found it difficult to truly get pulled into the story, I continued to listen but as background noise while doing my housework. I thought it'd get better over time so was pretty disappointed when I realised the following books are separate stories but seems to be in the same set U.S/Magical Kingdom. The other books may be an improvement but Powerful Magic put me in mind of a Mills and Boone story with a bit of sex and some magic thrown in. Definitely not for me and I'll be returning the other four books unread. 🙁
