Publisher's summary

This kind of business can only be personal.

Sage Reese lives for her job. More precisely she lives for her debonair boss, Parker Andersen. Sage handles everything for Parker, even as she fantasizes about the one thing that isn't in her job description: him. But when a high-stakes account crosses the line from shady to deadly, a tough cop starts giving Sage the attention she wishes Parker would....

Detective Dean Ryker couldn't be more different from Parker. While Parker wears expensive suits like a second skin and drives a BMW, Ryker's uniform is leather jackets and jeans...and his ride of choice is a Harley. While Parker's sexiness is a reserved, slow burn, Ryker is completely upfront about what - and who - he's after. And Sage tops his list.

Now, as Ryker digs deeper into the dark side of Parker's business, Sage finds herself caught between two men: the one she's always wanted - and the one who makes her feel wanted like never before....

RUINED BY THE NARRATION

I nearly stopped listening several times because I really disliked the narration... neither of the hot Heroes sounded sexy or even male. The Heroine was such a doormat and did some really stupid things. HOWEVER, the characters/plot somehow drew me in and I'd like to know which Hero is going to ride off into the sunset with the Heroine..... but I'm not about to waste a credit to satisfy my curiosity.

Worth a credit? IMO, no and luckily I bought this while it was on a Daily Deal otherwise I'd be asking for my credit back.

THRILLING ROMANCE

I REALLY enjoyed this book! Tiffany Snow is a new author (for me) as was the narrator, and I'm definitely interested in exploring more. Power Play had suspense, romance, a little intrigue with a side of humor and it pulled me in chapter by chapter. The narration of the male characters was 'meh', but, overall the narrator was good. This story has a love triangle that conflicted me the entire way through; it wasn't your straightforward type of book where loyalties and intentions are obvious. It's a solid 4-star winner for sure!

Seriously Stupid

I thought the character of Sage, a twenty something executive assistant, acted seriously stupid. Evidently she didn't know the difference between being an employee and an indentured servant. Unless her boss Parker was paying her a million dollars plus stock options, she was certifiably crazy to answer his calls 24/7.

Of course Sage had a huge crush on Parker, who was incredibly gorgeous, self-absorbed and wealthy. It was difficult to believe that an intelligent, educated woman wouldn't see Parker for the shallow jerk he was. Ryker, a sexy police officer who was investigating Parker's business dealings, was so much more engaging and likable.

I was disappointed that Sage, the main female character, was portrayed as goodhearted yet immature, gullible and unprofessional. Why aren't female authors creating more spunky, independent, and self confident heroines?

Painful

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different narrator would have gone a long way it was painful to listen to.

What could Tiffany Snow have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The lead female was too dumb to live. The male characters were better.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Laura Hopatcong?

Anyone who can do male voices.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, it could have been so much better.

Sage is a drip!!!

Would you try another book from Tiffany Snow and/or Laura Hopatcong?

Tiffany Snow is one of my favourite authors but this book is a real let down. Will I try another Tiffany Snow book - yes of course I will but unless Sage's character improves I won't be downloading the next book in this series.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Give Sage a backbone would be my first thought. She was so indecisive and I can't believe that Tiffany Snow would give us such a drippy heroine.

What three words best describe Laura Hopatcong’s performance?

The narration was ok but not outstanding.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Very Hard to Finish !!!

What would have made Power Play better?

A better heroine. Sage, seems to come across as a complete push over. And really ... when dealing with the mafia can anyone be so dumb and clueless. The story had great potential, I just wish Sage would have been written with more something, confidence, assertiveness, she just needed something more.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It didn't end! I was so aggravated about that. It had a sort of ending. But book 2 picks up right where book 1 ends. Same characters. After 10 hours I'll never get back, I don't think I'll listen to the next one.

What didn’t you like about Laura Hopatcong’s performance?

Hated the narration. Sorry Laura. The dialog between Sage and Megan, a friend at work, always sounded so young adult. The voices sounded like they were barely out of their teenage years. The Ryder & Parker's voices sounded a little to feminine for my taste. I felt the portrayal of both men came across as if they were both jerks.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Major Disappointment. The story plot has a ton of potential. Mafia, FBI, CIA, Police, love triangle. I just never felt that something for the main characters that we all like to feel.

Any additional comments?

It's possible the narration ruined the book for me. I might buy the second book in the series just to read the ending, if it does end. Before I give up on the narrator, I'll listen to something else she's done. I always like to give narrators and authors a second try before putting them on my no list. I'm not so sure I'll read something by Tiffany Snow again.

Couldn't get thru the book.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The mystery was interesting and I really wanted to know which man Sage would choose, but there were so many ridiculous aspects to this book, I finally had to stop listening. Perhaps this is best suited to very young adults.
