A must read.....

I really enjoyed this book. Thank you for sharing your story and opening up my eyes, and mind on how to forgive, and to stop drinking the poison. My goal for 2020, is to let go of a childhood grudge, and be an Adult about it, because I’m the only one that’s having the issue, and now I’ve realized that. So again thank you, and continue to be the amazing person, husband, friend and mentor that you are.

Inspirational Story!

After listening you should be inspired to get rid of any excuses you have for not accomplishing your goals! After hearing all the adversity Derrich went through and all that he was still able to accomplish in his life is impressive. We need more people in the world with a victor instead of victim mentality. I would definitely recommend! Especially to young adults struggling to find their way.

Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and the transparency Derrich gave to the listeners. The story of resilience is one all youth should and need to hear.
Adults can certainly benefit from what he shares too!

Poverty Powerball Gamechanger!

When I first looked at the title, I wasn't sure how the author would tie poverty together with a powerball winner. So as I listened to it, he caught me with how he wove in his story with other famous people who grew up poor but turned their adversity into winning.

What really arrested me? There was a point he and his mom stayed in a homeless shelter and even a van for a few months. Though it was tragic at that time, he showed how it was the best thing that could have happened. He learned how to take those experiences and use them to his advantage to propel his career forward. In the army, where most of us grew up comfortable with food, water, shelter, housing, clothes, cars, etc, Derrich did not at times. He learned that all we need is food, water, shelter and "baby wipes" (listen to the audiobook for details).

He showed how going through tough times enabled him to take risks. Had me looking at myself wondering, "could my comfort, growing up, be the thing that kept me from taking big calculated risks in my life earlier on?" "Is it possible that the comfy salary and position that I attained literally kept me stuck from truly maximizing all that I really am?" Thought provoking and riveting.

This is a must listen!

I love how Derrich turned his many test in life into a testimony. In his book he tells you how you can overcome hardships in life. He talks about how forgiveness is important not only for others but Mainly for your own peace within your self. I recommend Poverty Powerball to all it is definitely a must read book.
