love it!

I listened to this year's ago and have called it a favorite ever since. I listened again and loved it even more!

I had red the series a couple of years back and just wanted to listen to it as a background while I am working. BUT I have never enjoyed listening to a book as much as this one. The narrator brought life to this story and added more life to the story I remembered! Loved it!

One of my Faves!

One of my favorite series. Hadn’t read it in years and the audiobook version is great! Never imagined any of the characters with those accents so it was a really fun listen.

Great story

Love the characters and the narrator So so good. Can’t wait for another. I hope the same narrator reads the others.

Why remake something that was great

I can't believe they're replacing Gabra Zackman's narration. This is awful for a number of reasons, one of them being that i had already purchased and owned this series and now that it's being remade if I want to listen to it again I have to buy the new narrated version which is not nearly as good as the first. This is a tacky way to make more money. I genuinely love these books but I don't think I'll ever buy another audible book from this author again if this is going to be done to each of her series. if this is your first time listening to the series and like this genre I believe you'll enjoy it but I can't go from Gabra Zackman's narration to this one and enjoy it the same. I'm so disappointed

Not getting the next book in the series

If you are looking for Fantasy written by an adult for adults, (and I am not referring to ‘spice’ here, but quality of writing) this isn’t it. It isn’t the worst YA though, the language is varied and interesting, helped along by the narrator, who does excellent male and female characters.

The story has bright spots, like the female lead continuing to be a bad-ass after she hooks up with the male lead. She doesn’t mysteriously turn into a weeping, screaming damsel-in-distress which is refreshing in Fantasy. The story is fairly interesting, except for quite a few one-dimensional characters, either entirely good or entirely bad (Bad Guys smell of sweat, for example).

It’s a slow burn sort of romance that gets built, and I don’t need a pornographic rendering of events, like in the Fourth Wing series, but when the characters finally do hook up it is described in a short paragraph of metaphores with sentences like “we kissed passionately”. It’s like the author is allergic to writing about any sort of physical contact. If you include romance in your novel, why be so afraid to write about it?

This book could have been a few hours longer with a little more details to the romance, and more details in the fighting - they both get solved quickly.

I won’t be getting the second book in this series.

Wow, an awful remake!

This second version is beyond awful. The first was so good, I just don’t see the point.
