Story
I hated him. From the moment I walked into Tig’s Tattoo and Piercing I’d hated him. Garret was beautiful - because that was the way that fate worked and also because if I’d had anything in my life, it was bad luck. Still, with his derisive green eyes, tats peeking out from beneath the edges of his sleeves, and the scruff on his jaw, he was the sexiest man I’d ever seen in my life. He also seemed to delight in disrupting my life. I was there to fix a few pipes; he was there as a guest artist. I was there to do a job, he seemed to take pleasure in upsetting mine.

Story
On paper I have it all. Wealth, security, and a collection of vehicles that spark envy, even amongst LA’s rich and famous. Money is all I ever wanted, but now that I have it in spades, I’m restless. For the first time in my life, I want things cash can’t procure. I want a real relationship. Beauty and brains. A salacious little minx who isn’t afraid to call me out. My equal, in and out of the bedroom. The problem is I have no clue where to find a woman like that.

British accents should come with a warning label. When they're attached to deep, baritone voices that belong to sexy, cocky men, you should have to sign a waiver. Most people wouldn't touch short-term rental properties, but since my business partner took off with my client list, I need every deal I can get. Enter, one insanely sexy and completely exasperating Camden Reid. The smug executive found fault with every property I showed him. Too cramped. Too feminine. Too far from a decent pub. His demands were ridiculous, and I couldn't wait to be rid of him and his British bangers.

Story
Flying the friendly skies has been more than just a job to me. It’s my home. Ten years ago I ran away from everything I’ve known and vowed never to return. That is, until my flight is cancelled due to weather, and I’m stuck in San Francisco. Fate is not on my side when I end up in an Uber ride share with the one man I thought I’d never see again. Zack Hunt was my high school sweetheart, and the boy I walked away from without a note saying goodbye. Except, he’s no longer a boy. No, this man is gorgeous, intense, and heated at the sight of me.

He looks like he belongs on stage, stripping out of his firefighter uniform, not running into a burning building to save me. But thank God he did. When the smoke clears and my eyes focus on my savior, one look at his gorgeous face and tattoo-covered muscles, I know he’ll be too much for me to handle. It’s a good thing I never have to see him again, right? Except, losing my home to a fire means finding somewhere new to live, and guess who just happens to be my new roommate?

It was just a typical manic Monday until the blue and red lights flashed behind my Harley. The cop who pulled me over was good-looking, if you’re into clean-cut guys with expressive eyes. He was also cocky and gave me three tickets. One for speeding. Another for blowing a light. And the third for not producing an insurance card. Jerk. When he finally let me go, I realized I was more than an hour late for my first day as an intern for the infamous advice column Ask Ida.

The last thing I expected on the first day of my dog-sitting job was a middle-of-the-night fire alarm. Things go from chaotic to scorching hot when I run into my old crush, Miles Thatcher, on my way out of the building. Talk about disastrous timing. I haven’t seen him in years - seven to be exact. Since the day we buried his sister - my best friend. That was both the best and worst day of my life. It was also the day Miles kissed me - and promptly forgot about me.

The arrogant man at the dry cleaners made my bad day worse. So, the last thing I expected was for him to offer me a job. I shouldn’t have accepted - not if I wanted to maintain my sanity. But the allure of a big paycheck overpowered my reservations. Now, I know he’s just as infuriating as a boss as he was the first day we met; yet, the sparks that fly between us are far more than on a professional level. The more time I spend with him, helping him secure investors for his new restaurant chain, the harder it is to ignore the attraction between us.

Trusting others means taking risks, and that’s hard for me to do. I mean, when your mother abandons you as a child, you’re left with scars. I’m not reckless. I’m not wild. I play by the rules. It’s safer that way. Or so I thought.... Catching my boyfriend cheating on me confirmed every reason I’d kept my heart guarded. But being kissed by a sexy-as-sin stranger in front of him proved how little I was in control. It was passionate, electric, and it rocked me to my core. He stole my breath but replaced it with anger. I stormed away without so much as a name exchange.

Ex-fighter pilot Logan Reid is exactly the kind of man I despise. He’s a cocky jet jock, a former Navy Blue Angel, and full of all the arrogance that comes with being the best of the best. I’m an ex-Zoomie, an Air Force tanker pilot. The rivalry between our sister services is nothing compared to that between fighter jocks and tanker pilots. We’re bitter rivals, and I’m low-man (woman) on the totem pole.

If you can suspend common sense, then this book is for you.
Narration was great! The storytelling style is good. I just have major issues with the plot and storyline. That’s all. Nothing too major. The only reason I finished it was bc it was “free”. If I had used a credit for it, I would stopped listening half way through and returned it. FYI There are spoilers ahead.
1. The first interaction between the hero and heroine... what the hero said was weird and not congruent with his personality in the rest of the book. He said super elicit sex stuff to her right off the bat. Which would be “ok” if he said that to all the women, but he doesn’t. Plus it’s super disrespectful (which I expect from a cocky bastard) and doesn’t go with his personality in the rest of the book, where he confronts others for being disrespectful.
2. The guy is holding back a secret that will obviously cause big drama later when found out. But if he told it immediately, it could’ve been dealt with and been just a minor bump in the road. The secret is that he’s married.
3. When the hero’s wife shows up unexpectedly ( but expectedly to us) she wants to get back together with him. But then she finally agrees to sign the divorce papers, that she has been putting off for a year, bc she’s in love with another man. Makes no sense.
4. Oh, and when the heroine sees the wife, of course she runs and doesn’t let him explain himself. She doesn’t even know if this woman is a psycho or if she is really even his wife. Instead of hearing him out for one second, she leaves. Instead of blocking his number, she just ignores him.
5. And what’s up with this whole “pay inequality “ plot that was smushed in there? The way it was dealt with felt ...forced?
6. The two jerks of the story didn’t get any punishment.

CRINGY
Had to stop listening. Our first introduction to the hero isn't charming and he comes off as an arrogant jerk. The heroine is presented as having a stick up her ass, resisting his "charm." Dialog being presented as flirting was cringy and chauvinistic. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good bad boy and a good innuendo but this screamed sexual harrasment.
Male voice actor was okay. Female trying to mimic the male's Aussie accent was atrocious. Hard pass from me.

Not quite right
The first interaction with the male lead is just sexual harassment, plain and simple. It's NOT "flirtatious", and just because they end up getting friendly doesn't make it ok. Worse still, she's painted as being stuck up for not immediately swooning.
It's not just the off-putting start. His behaviour is not consistent with the way his character is protrayed the rest of the book. For example, why does he defend her when others are talking about her in the same way he treated her at first?
Maybe I'm just disappointed because I had higher expectations. Was looking forward to a real book about a strong female lead working in a male dominated industry. I wanted to see more of her badassery, not just be told about it in passing. I like the idea behind the flight school and the pay gap fight but it seemed a bit forced, like things just didn't quite gel together as well as they could have. That's the general feeling I get from this book, like something is amiss but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Too much Feminist opinions
The first book that started the “Hero Club Series” Soraya and Graham’s story Is “Stuck-Up Suit” by ViKeeland and Penelope Ward it took me forever to figure it out.
Why would any author use the name Alexa in any audio book. It was very annoying because my Alexa would respond. I don’t need to be Lectured about feminist during a book that I would’ve liked to enjoy

Great story!
I loved this story! The narrators did a great job of bringing it to life, and I LOVED the storyline brought in at the end about equal pay for everyone! It’s not something you see in books, and still isn’t given the attention deserved, so I loved seeing this! Gave me chills! I loved the chemistry between the main characters and loved all the destinations within this book! Would recommend this to all my friends!

I could follow this one and didn't feel like it was all bulls*×t. I was also happy that they didn't end up accidentally pregnant like so many others I have read recently. It has been annoying to see it so much. I love the school and the girls involved. This has a good message. Props to the narrators. A very good performance.

Excellent Story
This was a really good story for me until the last 2.5 hours. The MCs did not rush in to the romance and took plenty of time to get to know each other. The H went to the defense of the h without stepping over her and he showed pure respect in their work environment.
Two parts took a full star away for me.
1. The h runs from the H when she comes across a situation that infers that he has done something wrong without getting his side. That is always a frustration and is a sign of immaturity in the character.
The head-slap part for me is when the h tells our H that if she knew about said situation in the beginning, she would never have given him a chance!
2. The bulk of the last couple of hours was taken up by male/female pay disparity. It is an important issue and must be corrected; however, it took up nearly 25% of the story and, at times, felt more like a rant instead of the story. Cut the time dedicated in half and it would have been just as meaningful.
I will definitely read other books from the author.
