Great story, narration

When I first started the book I thought I was going to hate it. The narrator isn't as animated with some of his readings as others, but the other audio engineering that went in to this was awesome. There's lots of sound effects that go with it and I got really into the book after 30 minutes. The story was unique, I really enjoyed it and I am happy I got to listen to this. I rated the performance a 4, but really it's like 4.5

The story is based off a blood sport fighter, Pickle, and her indebted armor-crafter owner. He works with Pickle to get her up to fighting shape in a sport he knows nothing about after accidentally owning her. They work together in order to both make money and keep their butts on the correct side of the ground.

I did get to listen to this for free after I was offered a credit for this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Again a fantastic story - and a bit longer, yea!

I've not known the works of Mr. Saoulidis very long but I'm rapidly becoming a fan. There hasn't been a story yet I don't like, and this one is no exception.

The story takes place against the background of Saoulidis's God Complex universe, an alternative earth timeline where the ancient Greek gods are alive and kicking but usually don't play a major part in the stories themselves. Cyberpink is a brutal sport-slash-game, played only by female athletes who're all in a modern version of a slave-owner relationship, based on financial debt.

Our MC is beautifully fleshed out, with flaws and of course some heroic traits. I really like how Saoulidis subtly does away with the nowadays evermore encroaching idea of 'toxic masculinity' and emasculating femininity. He sketches a very balanced view on male and female roles and traits, talents and flaws, strengths, weaknesses, actions and reactions.
And puts all of it together in an awesome story, even managing to add some sex and violence without them being gratuitous.

Very well done, again.
So glad this one is an actual novella instead of only a short story. Still pining for a deliciously long novel though!

Definitely recommend!

Amazing Story and Narration

Pickle Pie was different from anything I’ve listened to before, and I enjoyed the wild, sexy, and at times brutal ride of cyberpink. From the very beginning I was engrossed in the story and I can't wait to know what happens next.

Luke Rounda did an amazing job. I loved how he changed voices for each character and even adding sounds to the story was a nice touch.

Cyber ”pink”?! WTF?!?!

I was sent this audiobook by the author for an honest review.

Don't let my title of my review scare you. I loved this audiobook! ”Pinkie Pie” is a cyberpunk story where certain characters in the story participate in ”cyberpink”, an all-female blood sport that combines gladiatorial elements and just all around sexiness of the female fighters. This book focuses on Hector who just recently acquired the ownership of one of the fighters, Patty. I don't want to give a lot of the story away, but the story has friendship, humor, action, sexiness, and the sexiness was not overdone. It's a seedy underworld, and Hector has to go through the ranks with Patty if they are to survive.

I can't wait for the next audiobook. It was well narrated and the story like I said was great!

What a blast...

I'm not a sports-lit fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I am definitely a SciFi/Fantasy genre geek, and when SF and sports intersected in Pickle Pie, I amazed myself by really liking it! There have been books like John Scalzi's Head On, or the short story, Z Ball by Will Swardstrom, and of course Seanan McGuire's stories about Roller Derby (found in her InCryptid series) that make my heart run fast, but those are the exceptions for me, not the rule... This book is one of those Glorious exceptions!
The game is informally called Cyberpinks, after the nickname for the players, the young women who play the game, and often end up bleeding (or worse) as a consequence... and all of them, cybernetically enhanced!   There's plenty of violence and gore, but it never seemed to tip too far into the excessively graphic, and I'm a relative light-weight about that stuff!
Luke Rounda proved to be a fine narrator too. I hope to hear more from him in the future!  I'm currently waiting for the next book in the series (Cherry Pie) to hit audible. It should be a blast!

Eagerly awaiting book 2

This is one of those stories that are more about world-building than anything else. It's a really fun ride, and though things happen, there's no hardcore overarching plotline to follow other than watching an armor maker find his way in a new world.

Book 1 left me wanting to know more about Pickle's back story, and interested in seeing how the team develops going forward (including cool armor upgrades once the money starts flowing).

Again, no defined enemy or anything, but still enjoyable. I would probably like to see some defined endgame in mind, but I felt the story was entertaining enough without needing to bog it down any further, so also cool with it as is.

This book was gifted to me by the studio, but I would have happily paid for it. Great stuff!

Sexy Cyberpunk Sports

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Boom.

Took a little while to get into the book, but once it got going this was quite fun. Plot was good, but the narration was a little annoying, especially the really odd sound effects.

I will definitely be looking for the next book on Audible.

Think cyber punk rollerball

Big fan of rollerball the original though this is more like the remake in spirit. Think sexy chicks, cybernetic augmentation, insane fast pace, drama, drugs, organized crimes and a guy who doesn’t care about any of it being thrust right into the heart of the game as the new owner of one of the players. When you know nothing about the world you are thrust into how do you survive and make money? Trust your player. Trust yourself and don’t change who you are. Great story can’t wait for the next chapter. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Rats in expensive clothes

Futuristic Athens and the 'fastest game ever', Cyberpink. Meet the girls, five to a team, and the game itself, a dirtier, faster, more vicious game even than Rollerball. And one girl in particular, known later as Pickle, and her impoverished owner, an expert armourer, who'd known nothing about the game before acquiring her contract.

As so often with Mr.Saouliditis, expect a visual barrage set in an horrendous world of gratuitous survival. Always unexpectedly immaginative, this one dazzles. Sardonic voiced narrator Luke Rounda picks up and runs with the story with great delivery and intonation and additional sound effects (from Freesound.org) contribute to build atmosphere.

I am indebted to the rights holder of Pickle Pie, who, at my request freely gifted me a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. Crazy characters, terrifying 'game' and great fun. Thank you. I will certainly be looking for more.
