Publisher's summary

Welcome to Burnt River, a new series of contemporary Western romance stories set in the fictional town of Burnt River, Montana. Brought to you by Shirleen Davies, Peggy L. Henderson, Kay P. Dawson, Amelia Adams, and Kate Cambridge.

Phoebe Glenn has walled herself away from love, not daring to risk what it would mean to be vulnerable. She keeps herself busy with work and friends, and she believes she's put the past behind her - until Bryce walks into her real estate office.

Bryce Davidson was a world-class rodeo cowboy until one split second took everything away. Now injured and retired, he comes back to his hometown of Burnt River to start over, not realizing how that choice would impact so many others' lives.

So much hurt in need of so much healing - and a lesson in relationships to be learned by all.

MY TAKE
I listened to the audiobook and Lili Dubuque did a nice job. This was an interesting take "girls gets rescued" where her memories of the near-rape are tied to the young man who saved her from it. I really enjoyed learning more about Phoebe whom I met in Ashley's book. Bryce is moving back home to retire from being a rodeo cowboy after an injury that nearly killed him.

It's a story of insta-love, especially on Phoebe's part since she didn't have feelings for Bryce back in the old days. These are novellas, so things have to move quickly. The story's so well written that I didn't have to stretch my ability to suspend disbelief too far to accept it. 4 1/2 stars

Enjoyed From Start To Finish!

This was such a great story! It's about how a horrible incident in the past changed the lives of so many people and how Love grew out of it all! It's a beautifully written story. It is also excellently Narrated byLilli Dubuque! Her smooth voice lends such empathy to the characters. I received this ARC Audiobook through Sweet Sounds Audiobook Group. It was my choice to leave a review and the thoughts are my own. I personally loved it. I'm also purchasing the E-Book as well. That's how much I enjoyed it!

Sweet romance

Sweet romance and story of overcoming the past and pressing on to the future. Love triumphs. This was my first foray into the Burnt River series, but I will definitely be reading the other books.

Very Clean Small-town Romance

Typically I read or listen to historical romance, but the author sent me a code to receive this audiobook. This was an easy story to follow, even if you haven't read any of the other Burnt River books just like I haven't. There isn't any incredibly tense external conflicts. Most of the conflict is internal for both the hero and heroine. Thsi makes the story just a little slower and less suspenseful than the books I usually read. However, I could easily believe that the characters in this book are real as the writer creates such good dialogue and characterization. I didn't care for the narrator's performance, especially the nasal voice used for the hero. Still she has a nice enough voice so that I was able to listen to the book in one sitting.
