Publisher's summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
How often do you think about your bedtime routine?
Almost half of people in Britain say they're kept awake at night due to worry and stress - so making time to switch off in the hour before bed is more important than ever.
Penguin Sleep Tales are 10 specially designed descriptive audio tales to help you wind down and relax before you drift off.
Developed with The Sleep Council, each track will transport you to a different location, encouraging you to visualise calming settings and landscapes to ease away the day's anxiety or worry and get you in the right frame of mind for sleep.
Lie in a hammock on a tropical beach, relax by a campfire or shelter from a distant thunderstorm. These mindful tales are read slowly and soothingly, accompanied by relaxing sounds of nature.
One has been specially designed to appeal to those with auto sensory meridian response (ASMR), a physical reaction to sound which can be particularly relaxing.
Create a focused, peaceful environment so you can get a deep, natural night's sleep and wake up refreshed in the morning. The perfect de-stressor after a long day.
Penguin Sleep Tales are designed exclusively for audiobook apps. Clearly labelled for easy navigation, each track is 15 minutes long, so you can put your sleep timer on for any duration with no need to return to the screen. So dim the lights, and get ready for a good night's rest.
Includes 10 relaxing tales: 'Wakarango Mai', 'Hammock on a Distant Shore', 'The Purring Temple', 'Pegasus in the Night Sky', 'Dancing Flames', 'A Bothy in a Storm', 'The Warm Smell of Hay', 'Travel on the Overnight Train', 'The Magic Bookshop' (ASMR story) and 'Yara's Song' (inspired by the Brazilian folk tale 'The Story of Yara').
The Sleep Council offered information and advice around the development of this product. Search for 'Ladybird Sleepy Tales' and 'Puffin Sleepy Tales' to see our collections for children.

Brilliantly read
These 15 min tales are fantastic. They are read in a beautiful way and each one is 15 mins. I'm normally asleep by the end of 1. Soothing, calming, imaginative,.... What's not to love.

Extremely helpful
The stories in this book have genuinely really helped me - I have yet to hear the finish of one of the stories because I have gone to sleep before the end every time!
I've got ADHD, and one of the negative impacts of that for me is frequent struggling to sleep, so this is no small feat.
The minor thing I would knock half a star off for is: in the middle of one of the stories (the one with hot springs), you hear a voice come out of the wilderness. It's meant to be nature or something, but it actually just sounds like a creepy person watching you from the bushes....!! But the rest of the story is really nice so it's still one of my favourites now that I am ready for the creepy voice, it now just makes me chuckle a bit if I haven't gone to sleep already.

Kept me awake
Not for me unfortunately, although the stories are nicely-read the background noises in some of them are distracting and too loud, I kept wondering what was going on.. Also there isn’t a huge amount of preparation getting you settled for sleep, or cuing you up for sleep, they’re just reading a story. Overall not a win for me.

Stories are Lovely
The stories are Lovely, and the voice is very soothing and calming...but there are huge gaps between dialogue. At the end of the gap the dialogue starts up again abruptly and I find it keeps waking me just as I'm drifting off.

I want more of these stories
My only complaint is that I want more!
They're so relaxing and calming. The narrator's voice and additional sound effects adds to the atmosphere. I love listening to these and imagining along with the story. Always puts me right to sleep.

Story
For Dee Kwan, every day is the perfect day. No, really. She has a house she loves, a job she adores, and a ridiculously attractive “nemesis” who never seems to mind when she wins their favorite online game. How can life possibly get better? (It can’t, obviously. It can only get much, much worse.) Soon Dee is forced to share her adorably cozy home with her parents and estranged grandmother. Then she’s tossed into the deep end at work, tasked with cleaning up a scandal for the intimidatingly chic luxury fashion firm Celeste. If that weren’t enough, she discovers her hot nemesis works there, too.

Story
It's nearly Christmas, Julia Devine's favourite time of the year. She's just programmed a wonderful lead into the holidays at Sunny Street Cinema, which leaves her plenty of time to worry about going home to Cumbria for Christmas. Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.

Story
The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

His marriage is foundering, his career is stalled out, and all he wants is to create an app like Uber, or Tinder, something to make real change in the world, and change his own life forever. Now meet Peter, a deeply troubled computer genius who lives in a basement apartment, chugging red wine, nursing old grudges and writing code. When Harry meets Peter, it’s both of their lives that will change, when they invent an app for murder.

This newer edition of the King James Bible published in 1769 is usually preferred by most that read it over the older 1611 version. This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... We hope your new audio bible will go everywhere with you and be a blessing for years to come.
